Ok, just to see what gets posted.....
If you could take any F-body and do anything to it what would you take and what would you do with it??/
Would you take Firebird or Camaro?? Which year??
Would you leave it stock or modify it??
Which engine would you have??
What mods would you do with it??
If you chose a non-stock engine would you choose carbed or injected??
Would you leave it streetable??
How much hp would you want to have??
Just thought this may be interesting to read and see who would do what??
Post your answers.....
Patrick

First Gen convertible with the new big block, injected, 600+ hp, streetable. What a lot of fun that would be.

You need to talk to the Hawk about that one.
Bang for the buck, I would do what Bruce did.
Mine on the other hand, bought over here for
$850(couldn't beat the price).
Engine: Forged flat top 383 stroker
Cam Comp roller 212/224 dur--498/504 lift
Heads Trick flow 23 degree/64cc/2.02-1.60
Roller tip 1.6 rockers
TPI SLP high flow runners/ported intake & plenum/58mm TB/ 26 pound injectors
Headman shortie headers/3" Flowmaster cat back
MSD ignition: distributor/High voltage coil/wires/6AL box
And last but not least--a shot of go/go stuff
Transmission: 700R4
Rebuilt w/racing clutches
B&M 2500 stall
Line lock
And of course B&M mega shifter(a must have)
Rear end: Austrialian 9 bolt(compatable to dana44) 3.27 gears
Suspension: SSM llift bar system w/ sub frame connectors
KYB 3 way adjustable front shocks 50/50, 70/30, 90/10
KYB 50/50 rears
Tires: just for the drags ET streets(if Bruce would ever send them to me)
All of this just to chase down the Hawk.
It will be street and 50 state legal.
Conservatively speaking should be around 425 to 450 w/out the go/go stuff. Shots from 50 to 175hp.
1/4 mile time should be around mid 11's at sea level with the spray. All of this would have to be at a professionaly preped track(not Bitburg).
I guess we will see at the next drag meet.
I would be happy with a mid 12 pass.
It's all about having fun and getting to spend some time with a bunch of gear heads.

That would be difficult to choose:
I would always keep it streetable, because I would want to drive often.
fist choice a 69 Camaro convertible, big block, auto gearbox, +/- 450 hp, maybe a nitrous shot just now and than for fun.
or
One of the rare 2nd gen Camaro convertibles, auto gearbox, suspension modified, +/- 300 HP,
or
My own Convertible with a Corvette Z06 engine in it,
or one of the latest Camaro Convertibles, just as KC10A has and keep ik stock (at least for a few years).
Or all Firebird equivalents of the above mentioned of course .

I'd want a 4th gen WS6 with Z06 chrome alloys in black with about 450hp and all the suspension mods.
But I really want a ZO6.

I know this was my own question, but I figured I would go ahead and answer it as best I could.
I dont know that I could really settle for one car, but I would take any of the following:
1969 Trans Am Convertible - stock
1973 Trans Am 455SD - stock
1978 Trans Am Bandit Edition - modded to about 450hp
2002 Trans Am WS6 convertible - LS1, pushing about 500rwhp, suspension mods
I know that list doesnt contain any Camaros, which I think are great cars, but it seems that for every Trans Am I see about 6-8 Z28s. I kind of enjoy the rarity of Trans Ams. I know they made something like 108000 Bandit TAs, but when was the last time you saw one???

Bandit TA's? Every show I go to, there's at least one.
Along with at least two "Dukes of Hazzard" chargers and an industry dedicated to destroying 3rd gen TA's by sticking on horrific Knightrider kits. Gross!
But I do love the 4th gen WS6 in black. It is the devil itself incarnate. Can't get them over here though. Booger!

I know in the US in the last 10 years I have maybe seen 3-4 Bandit TAs. Chargers are a bit more common, although growing up in the south I have to admit that I have NEVER seen one done in the style of the Dukes of Hazzard. I grew up watching both the Bandit Movies and the Dukes. I have only seen maybe 4-5 of that year Charger ever.
I know they are out there and understand that in the town they filmed Dukes of Hazzard there is an entire junkyard of 340c.i. Chargers used in filming the show. I cannot tell you where that is, nor how many they had...but its one of those where I met a guy who grew up in that town and saw it all. So, I couldnt confirm that.

There are atleast two dukes of hazard look a like chargers over here in Holland
One guy waisted a perfect white charger with blach vinyl roof to make a HAzard clone of it. What a shame. I tried to buy it from him when Ik heard of his plan but he wouldn't sell it. What as waist!
By the way anyway ever seen a secondgen firebird convertible??? I saw one on Hawaii some 20 years ago. I guess such a firebird is even more rare than a secondgen Camaro convertible. Am I right?

DutchTBI88, thanks for the complement on my car. I really do love it. Every time I think about modding it, I wonder why. For now, It is still too special to me to start the mods. Besides, it has plenty of power to suit me.

LuS1fer,
Just to let you know, I found a guy here at SHAPE who has a dark blue '02 WS-6 on Friday. Going to try to get him to join the site here. He is supposed to check it out sometime, but is on his way leaving here for a while and is storing it til the summer sometime.
Anyway, I have also seen a 4th gen Camaro SS in black here on post. Havent caught him yet to talk to him about the site. But I figure someone who has or knows this much about cars is going to be interested in talking with others about it.
