Rob and I have had nothing but problems with our cars and I'm tired of being in 'Car Hell.' Right now his engine is being (I hope) rebuilt at Tony's. Mine is sitting *somewhere* and, let's just say, we're on Vehicle Registration's bad list. Rob is in the Host Nation and can't help too much from there. Here's where I need help: zcam94 found us a transmission for my car, at least to get it running and reregistered, and also a rear end for Rob's car (who hates the word 'drums.'). They are still in their original car, and I am no mechanic. I don't know who else to ask, so I'm trying my luck here. Would anyone be willing to come out here (Wuerzburg/Kitzingen area) and work on pulling the tranny and rear end for me? I'm really stuck. I can *somewhat* pay for your time and I can feed you. I'm good at handing tools and helping when I'm told specifically what to do. This would have to be done soon, though. That's the bad thing. Let me know, and thanks SO MUCH!!!

Paula

I am in the middle of a double cycle. PLDC and on duty the next 2 weekends. Our craft shop rocks and would be able to help if the cars were closer. If you ADAC + you may be able to get it moved to Vilseck and then we could work it from there.

Ooh, I wish that were possible Bruce, but the car isn't mine to move. Thanks though.

Ohh, damn. I really want to help.
But right now I shouldn´t handle anything heavy like a transmission, yet.
Perhaps next weekend... I just have to wait and see. :( Marc would help then, too, i´m sure. The rear end shouldn´t be a problem at all, but I have no experience with automatics, because mine is a manual.
Is there a lift or anything like that? Where is this car?

:?

Chris, you go worry about recovering! Rob told me he talked to you about it, and thanks anyway, but we don't want you to get hurt helping us out. Roy, thank you, if the parts are still available when you get back, I'll let you know. The thing is, this is one of the cars at the Larson strip lot that has just been released to the public today. Everyone has been drooling over it, waiting to get their hands on parts. I want that tranny and rear end (and the bellow for zcam94), and they're right there for the taking...so right now I have to be patient and hope no one else can go in there and take them before I get the chance. As for what's available at the strip lot, lift, etc, I have no idea. I've never been there. Maybe zcam94 knows? Or Rob? Hopefully one of them will post here too. Thanks all.

Paula :)

They do have a lift there. If I were you I would try to pay for the parts (if possiable) asap. Did you talk to them to see if they could do it? I'm usless right now. My had almost forgotten who I was. I'm ready to deploy now just for some rest! Plus we are still trying to figure out a date I am leaving. Our baby is due on the 6th of Feb. I might be cutting it real close if I'm even here. But I don't even get time for my family right now much less to help anyone else out or even to work on my car.

Yep, called the strip lot first thing this morning. They can't hold the parts on payment...I have to pay and take the parts at the same time. Also, they don't have enough manpower to pull the parts for me. I almost went up there in a skirt, just like Rob suggested! I know our luck and am resigned to the fact that it just isn't our time to get the cars fixed. &#%$8

I will try to have somebody... what times is the place open?
Is it open Sunday? (today?)
because it is long way from here to go, that person may have to
take leave from his regular job and I don't want him to go there
and find the place closed. You would have to meet him on a
easy to find Autobahn exit also. But I will ask, got 2 mechanics
in mind.
For sure you will have to pay the gas (US side, so not THAT much)
and a little extra for the effort. They are no fbody guys, but
have some experience with fbodies.

Please give me the opening hours and the location to start with.
Maybe your phonenumber for better communication, or call my
cell: 0170 23 66 527

Oh Silke, thank you! The strip lot is located on Larson Barracks in Kitzingen. I'm not real familiar with the area myself, but maybe someone else here on the board knows? They're open Tuesday-Saturday from 9-5. I don't work, so my schedule is completely open. I would definitely pay gas and a little extra! My home # is 09366-990094, handy is 0170-107-9643. What else would you need from me? I have Rob's tool box, but I'm not sure it has everything they'd need. :?

I know this may sound stupid Paula, but do you know how to get to Kitzigen? If so, have them take A3 towards W-burg get off at exit 70 and make a right. There is a small park platz on the right after you cross the bridge. From there you should have it. I really do wish I could help you!

Oh, I absolutely know how to get to Kitzingen! I've just never had to get there any other way than from my house, and I don't know exactly where the strip lot is. Thanks for the directions, though! They'll come in handy, I'm sure. I don't do most of the driving, although I'm sure Rob wouldn't mind sharing the responsibility...Where does Exit 70 bring you to? I can't picture it.

Paula :)

Damn, if you would have posted this sooner. I could have most likely slung that stuff out out of there in a full day easily, I just shipped my tools friday and I fly on the 31st to Ft.Hood. I would have done it for you for just food! Its a tough time right now with all that is going on, seems that no one is available. I am sorry and feel for you. I know what that situation is like. I hope it will all work out.

I wish I could have posted it sooner too, but I couldn't. Thanks anyway, I'm glad you understand where I'm coming from.

Paula, if you know where the new ITC building is go up that street as if your turning into the parking lot then go to the end of that stree and the strip lot sits behind the car wash on your left. Let me know if its going to be friday or saturday for sure. I'll try to get off work and help those guys squirrelina is sending. NO PROMISES though. On the 29th at 7:45 am they are going to try to induce my wife's labor.

Well, I haven't been to Larson Barracks in a long time, probably over a year. I am not a complete idiot, though, and I'm sure I will be able to find it. Silke, thank you and thanks to your friends! Friday sounds wonderful. I talked to Rob and he gave me some directions, I'll give them to you when we talk. Aaron, hopefully you'll be able to join us also, I know it's easier with more hands, but I also hope everything goes well with your wife and baby! If anyone else is interested in helping out (not including you, ChrisV6--go get better!), I'll post more once I talk with Silke and have a definite day and time. Thank you thank you thank you all!

Paula :)

Perhaps I´ll come and supervise, good idea
But I think a real mechanic knows much better what to do.. *g*

Well, but otherwise, I always wanted a LT1 drive shaft,
that would be a good opportunity... :)
