While my car is down I was thinking about lowering it JUST TO SEE IF I LIKE IT the cheap way. Does anyone know what the correct way to cut the springs is.
1. How do you measure the springs to cut them on the car and commpressed, or off the car and uncompressed?
2. How much can you if it's even possible cut off a stock spring 1 or 2 inches?
3. Would this create that stupid bounce effect that the low riders have (don't want that)?
4. Would it be really stupid to do this?
I figure I want to lower my car about two inches if I can doing it this way. That way I can drive it just to see if I like it or not. And If I do like it I'm going to order the actuall lowering springs. All opinions are welcome Thanks.
Don't do it. It will get the lowrider bounce drag scrape effect. Johnny with the hugger orange Z-28 from Sembach has his cut and it is not the best ride. Spend the 150-200 on some real springs.

Thanks that was exactly the answer I was looking for. That is definatly not the look I'm going for. I guess it's just better to do it right the first time. I was thinking that It might not bounce like that depending on how much I cut. But if there is a chance it might it's just not worth driving it looking stupid.

I've looked at it a few times but I just relaxed the other day and got nothing acomplished. I'm going to start putting the car back together again tommorow. Then i'll probably wash and wax it. Then I'll tear it down to get it prepared for the clutch. later

It would definitely be a better idea to keep the stock springs! For one, it would make it easier, when they ship it, to prevent them from doing any damage to the undercarriage.
