Hawk, did he have the 35th LE stripes on a orange SS? Just curious. I know that they can be bought in a few places.

Get him to join us --- making a video with 4 red convertibles, 2 of which being 35th must be pretty unique  (guess I should finally get my trunk lid fixed some time ...)

Wooooh, that guy gets around. I remember posting something about this awhile ago. I saw one at the BK in Wurzburg. Maybe the same guy? When I went back to talk to him, he was gone. Someone catch this guy!

That's the trouble with a 35th - they're all red. I can never understand why they don't do a choice of colors. It must also limit the sales as if you don't like red, you may go and buy a Mustang Cobra instead.

I would rather pay $10k to re-paint a F-body than to GET paid $10k to take a Rustang. Think about it, a V-6 F-body will stay on the back bumper of a GT.  Ford screwed up big time when they came out with the Mustang II and just can't seem to reddem themselves. $ for $, F-body's can out-run, out-handle, out-anything a Mustang. Just my opinion.

Have you ever driven a stock Camaro Convertible in AutoX (or, for that matter, at 80+ mph on the highway)? I do not know how well or bad a Mustang drives, but the handling of fbodies definitely requires some aftermarket parts ...

I disagree with the "F-Body is a minor deity" theory. I don't think the Mustang is a bad car and the Mustang II is rather old news like the 1984 Camaro Berlinetta. In stock form, even as a Z28 (I've never tried an SS) the F-Body handling leaves something to be desired (especially on UK roads) and the Mustang handling is hardly a benchmark comparison. Sadly, it wouldn't have cost GM hardly anything to improve it. I'm not here to defend Mustangs but the last figure I saw for a Mach 1 was a 13.1 quarter and I'd like to see a V6 get anywhere near that.
I love my Z28 but I remain objective about it's abilities. Then again, I've never driven a Mustang (bar a 1981 3.3 Ghia which handled quite well and had the power of a small snail).
Anyway, all I wanted was a choice of color, the same would apply to a uni-color Cobra. The thing about the 35th is that it's supposed to be really special - 35 years and the end of a line - and then you turn up to a show and there's half a dozen. At least if they'd offered a black one or a silver one perhaps, there'd be more willing to pay the price.

Well, my best is a 14.9x ... that's stock with 17" wheels and 1000ft above sea level ... no way to get the 'vert in low 14s, much less low 13s ... sure, I can beat up 3rd gen 305's, and possibly V6 Mustangs if they are stock, but ...

I cannot speak for the verts, but my SS drives and handles great!!! After adding the STB it got better! I am looking forward to adding SFCs. I just can't decide which ones I am going to get... Any Suggestions???

I might be able to show you a little something.
As far as SFCs go. I like the Kenny Brown's. They look the most sturdy. Check out Thunder Racing, they are like $230.

As far as 'verts go, I wouldn't know how they handle, but I'm certain that the stangs are not any better. I also don't know about the t-tops, I made sure that I didn't order them to prevent any problems when going down the track. When I mentioned a V-6 Camaro can keep up with a stang, it was the base GT. The Camaro can't beat it, but with some mods, it should. After hearing about what RT1 has done/doing to his, I can't wait to see it in action. I would love to see the expression of a 'stanger after getting beat by a "little V-6"
I'm not saying that all mustangs suck, I just prefer Bowtie power. I will admit that I like the way the prototype '05 stang looks.

Lusifer, you mentioned the lack of color choice on the 35th LE. Scott Settlemire, better known as FBodFather, posted on the SLP Forum why they decided to make them red. GM along with others sometimes makes Limited Editions with no options such as color. The reason for red is as follows. During the life of the Camaro, the most popular color was white. The 30th Anniversary Limited Edition was white. For the 35th, they decided to make it in the second most popular color over the life of the Camaro. That is why it was red. I don't mind if a few others show up at shows, I still like it.

Personally, I say the more the better! I think of all of us as brothers, hell , if I wanted something no one else was driving, I would get a Mustang II...
