Well no pics. Pulled the other valve cover off and presto. All rockers are in perfect shape no slack, no broken springs or cracked for that matter. Pushrods are perfect as well no scarring of any kind. So that leaves it to be internal.

I'm hoping Rob is right and maybe the Hydra rev-kit went bye bye or possibly some bad lifters. But I doubt it. So IMO it's either the gear to the oil pump grenaded, or its the bearings. Only other possibility would be a broken ring. So needless to say at this point my choices are 2. Pray I can ship it back INOP which I'll find out tomorrow OR you guys are gonna have a HUGE parts bin. Wipe your mouths it's not official yet. But I'm creating a parts list now as I speak JIC.

*crosses fingers* one of the springs in the rev kit broke.

John, not helping you jump the gun or anything, but if you cant ship it inop, which I tend to think you'll be able to, if you have to.

You can pull all the pieces off of it and ship it in your household goods. Just make a box for the shortblock, top end, rear end, ........

No sense getting .10cents on the dollar for all your time and money.

I really cross all my fingers and toes that it works for you one way or the other, that you can ship her or find the problem quick

and I agree to the theorie that something had to be wrong from the beginning: because I know how you drive and you always been ways from overkilling anything! as sensible as you handled her.

I must agree. Hate for you to lose all the $$$ that you invested. At least you can put it to good use later on.

Damn, if I had the money I'd just buy from you in total and one piece
to work on and fix whenever I have time, to keep the car in my 'museum' collection.
Sorry I am just sentimental person, and for me those cars have too much
of personality, and yours in specific.
Always wanted it, but would never pass TÜV, straight race car.

But I don't have the money right now, got too much tight up into the
1on1 racing thing to keep that going.
Made a 'Minus' last time, but keep going.

Final diagnosis. Spun bearings. Excessive rod knock as well. Some of the guys offered to help me rebuild it. Actually considered it but I'm tired of working on it even though it can be done in a matter of wks. Hopefully shipping it back home won't be a problem have yet to get clarification from one company.

It's been fun but I'm out........take care

Silas,

Man, that sucks major ass John. I am truly sorry to hear the news. You are 1 of the founding members, and if it hadn't been for you, this club might not have ever started. I hope you get it all resolved when you PCS.....

I am really sorry to hear that John.
Hopefully it works out to get it fixed when you PCS to the States.
All the luck with your PCS/car shipping.

did you spin a main bearing or a rod bearing? Bearing are $100 that is rod and main set. Do you have eyes on the crank is it chewed up.

Don't know which to be honest Bruce. Didn't bother tearing it down. But you know the sound when you hear it. And it is pretty quick to fix in all honesty but I'm just looking at it from a different standpoint right now.

That is I've got X amount of yrs left before retiring and a house I want built for X amount of $$$. The car can wait but the house can't. Don't want a house payment and if I keep playin w/ the car I'll have one that's not the plan or the agreement the wife and I set out to do. Also ironically the car was getting faster w/ the failing fuel pump. Had it survived another month w/ a new fuel system in it I might've killed myself or wrecked it again costing more $$ to repair once again. So it's a blessing in disguise for me. I'll just spend the 1k to ship hopefully and call it a day for now. Reuse the bottom end parts down the road w/ a pair of hair dryers to boot. Won't be til 09 or so though. Hopefully by then the 5th gen will be out and that'll be my retirement present.

Thanks for the words Jack. I appreciate it.

Ciao'!
