Nope. Believe me though I've thought about it. I'm saying to myself how am I gonna survive here for the next 2 yrs w/ no 170mph blasts down the abahn? Makes my skin curl when I think about it. But I'm stickin to my guns and sending it back next month.

I'll do it right this time. Nutek is up the street and they already told me they'll replace anthing damaged and reuse what's still in good condition which will be basically everything and not kill me in price. I figure 5K because I'm gonna slap on AFR heads this time210-220cc range. Makes no sense in havin a 396 and don't let her fully breathe. Larger bump stick will accomodate the heads as well. And since it'll be installed there a warranty will be attached to it. 2yr 24K warranty. DYNO-tuned and all so to eliminate all the problems of the past.

THEN I'll ship her back for that last yr possibly. Just have to see how the money is 1st.

Glad to see that you have a plan that is working out for you. If you need a car that can go 170mph, get a Civic and slap on a bunch of stickers. I have a bunch of domestic decals that should add plenty of power.

Sounds like a plan, but sounds kinda pricey. All you did is spin some bearings right? Put a hone in the block, slam it back together and buy the heads with some P/P ing. 5K you can opt up to the fuel cell with twin pumps and all the trimmings for that 20 psi you'll throw at it 8) . This is assuming Nutek is still doing it.

That's a good point too Rob. But once they tear it down and see what happened then I'll go from there. IBlock was bored .040 over so whether it can be reused depends on the damage. I do want some AFR's though w/ a larger cam to go w/ it. That alone will set me back 3K for parts and labor. Ship it back for another 1k and that's the 5k total. I'm shooting for warranty this time around. The old LT1 castings will be kept and used for a boosted 355 down the road. I've still have time to think things over some more. Any and all suggestions are welcomed!

My .02 worth.

1. Didn't you have the engine built by someone? If so, pitch a fit since it didn't hold up. You can't have had than many miles on it. They should fix it.
2. Tear it down and see what you've got. A spun bearing shouldn't have messed up more than a rod or crank. I seriously doubt if it damaged the block. A crank or rod isn't that expensive and you could be back up and running. I would try to figure out why the bearing spun. That is assuming it is a spun bearing. I didn't know you could tell a spun bearing by the sound.
3. Get a engine out of a junkyard in the states, do a mild rebuild on it, and then enjoy it. It might not run 170, but at least you would have a F-Body to drive.

If you want some help tearing it down, let me know.

Only problem with that is that they werent rebuilding the neighbors dodge caravan. Most of the shops are hesitant to warranty a "race" motor, cuz they dont know the who or what the customer is going to do, or not do to it. They usually have no problem guaranteeing THEY'RE work that they do. But putting anything in writing for more than 90 days would be an exception. IMO and from what I have ran into.

Yep, if ARE would have installed and tuned it, that would be a different story.. Unfortunately that is not the case.

This is what we are going to do! Silas, you send me your car for keeping, and I will send you 5g's. You take that money and buy yourself a crotch rocket = 170mph. Everbody is happy! What do you think? j/k playa Hope it all works out for you. BTW, my heads/intake and my fuel kit are on the car, waiting for the tranny fix and my custom tune and I will be ready to ROLL! Should be done before I get back :D Anyway, take it easy, Mike

RobH is right on that one. Just recently had to replace a crank out of a Rustang 5.0. The crank was bought through Ford motorsports and they would not warranty the crank because it was for high preformance application. There was nothing special about the crank.
