Have anybody test the Shell V-Power gas too?

Haven't noticed any difference compared to 98. May-be it helps, if you get some knock under heavy load.

some said it works, either give it an extra boost or... get 50 km more out of the tank.

I also had somebody telling me the american engines were not build for 100 octane, unless you want to replace seals and gaskets ?

seems to be for the ricers, heared in Japane the higher octane is standard ?

...now all of that is from others, not me.
I did not try yet, my truck takes diesel. :wink:

:?: The high octane has nothing to do with the seals and gaskets. True, most US engines were built to run on lower octane. Using 100 octane is just a waste of money unless you NEED it. You can advance your timing to take advantage of the higher octane though. The higher the octane, the SLOWER it burns. Sounds weird at first but when you think about it... Lower octane gas burns faster, sometimes too fast for your application. When this happens you get "knock" which is when the gas burns too soon, (before the plug fires). Higher octane controls how quickly the gas burns so you don't have the pre-ignition problems that too low of an octane can cause. Hope that I didn't confuse anyone...
Bottom line, if you can take advantage of the higher octane to build more power, use it, it WON’T hurt anything. Otherwise, save your money for something else that can make you some ponies under the hood. Blower, nitrous, etc. :lol:

Good explanation! I agree absolutely about that.
Most people still think that higher octane means that the gas has more energy, but thats simply wrong. If you don´t have a higher compression ratio or lots of boost from a turbo or supercharger you simply waste your money on this. OK, they put some additives in it, but if you use some injection cleaner from time to time you should see the same results and save money. :lol:
