Did you sign any papers yet? Don't let these guys corrupt you! Don't join the military(Air Force ) without a purpose. For instance, come in with a good job (computers, networking, Air traffic Control, etc.) something that will get you PAID when you get out. Otherwise unless you wanted to stay in 20 years, why join? Beleive me, I am a 3C0X1 (computer guy), I sit in the AC all day learning things that are going to make me a LOT of money when I get out. Do you want to turn wrenches sweating your ass off all day? Do that on your off time on your own $hit in your own garage. You feel me? The AF is a better way of life all around no matter what anyone tells you. You will not have roomates, most stateside bases you can get get an apartment regardless of rank, housing is better, better technology, just everything. Not sure what the bonuses are in other branches but I just reenlisted a year and a half ago for $30,000. In 3 more years, I can reenlist for 6 more at $60,000. But I am getting out to pursue a real life. I can make that up in a year on the outside. Anyway enough rambling. I am not dissing the other services, it's all about WHAT you want to do and how each branch will get you there.
Go AF!

That is some good advice. When I joined, I wanted to be Airborne Infantry, now I have been there and done that, but now I am just trying to find something that I can do on the outside. It just depends on what you want out of the military. You can argue back and forth about which service will take care of you more. The bottom line is, get a job, in any service, that you will enjoy doing. My $.02... get into computers, like admin and networking. Get the experience, that your future employers will be looking for.
SSZ28... I was joking about that 63S thing, I thought you would get a kick out of that.

not even close! When I go to basic ill send my dad back two checks for $1,100 and he will buy most of the parts ill need, then ill send him 2 months pay from job training, if there is a time break at all between completing training, and shipping out, ill build the motor. If not, ill have my dad do it

Ahhhhh, Fort Benning... Sand Hill... E 1/19... the memories... I had OSUT there in '93, got there in June, so I don't think that September will be that hot. It will be hot, don't get me wrong, just hot as hot. Well congrats, I hope you enjoy what you will be doing. I just don't know why they didn't ship you to Ft Sill if you are going FA. Don't worry about getting in shape. You will be in shape when you are done...
Rob

ok, after 3 days of working out, I have worked up to 5.1 miles of running ( I measured with my truck) 30 push ups , 30 sit ups, and 30 laps in the pool, I need to get up to 42 push ups, to PASS the physical fitness test so I can get rank before going to BCT. and 53 situps to pass... I also need to run 2 miles in just under 16 minutes (that should be farely easy)

If you do 100 PU/SU per day you will be good to go in a couple weeks.

Dude, Pass that PT test, make that refferal, do what ever it takes to get that promotion to PFC/E3. You'll be making more money and be light years ahead of your peers starting at PVT/E1.
