Hate leaving the Vilseck place but to stay 2 more years I got to move. Need some help finding a place up around Heidelberg. I get my orders today or tomorrow. I'll be up there starting on 8 September. Looking for somewhere within 20-30 minutes away from town. Only pain is would like a garage for the cars and to play in.

Good luck finding something close. I do know that you can find houses, not appartments, with good sized garages near Coleman Bks, Mannheim. It is about 30 minutes away though. :( How much $$$ do you have to spend? Hd is not cheap. There are some places up near Leimen (sp?) and in St. Leon Rot that have garages. Keep in mind that housing may stick you in government qts. :( That's what happened to me when I was there. They wouldn't let me live off post since there wasn't a waiting list. Can you speak German? That'll help at housing. Hopefully you can sweet talk the people there and get a decent place.
BTW, what unit are you going to? Some are out near Mannheim...

I received this on 28 Jul 03. It may be worth the call to see if it is still available:

Do you know anyone looking for a great place close to Campbell Barracks? I will be moving in the middle or end of August timeframe and my apartment in Leimen will be available by no later than 1 SEP for a new family to move in (possibly earlier). It is a 4 Bedroom, 1 1/2 bath, full kitchen, garage with two additional parking spots, backyard with patio, storage room, washer and dryer room that is 3 miles from Campbell Barracks and 3 miles from PHV and a 25 minute drive to Mannheim (easy Autobahn access). It is 133+ square quad meters with four floors. 2nd and 3rd floors have it’s own balcony. 1st floor opens up to the yard. No pets. For more information people can contact me via email or on my cell phone 0179-928-6387 after 6pm.

Good Luck,

Thanks NovaRat. I'll call them today. I'm a civilian and will have to be off post. I'd live in an old gas station with a garage if I could find one. Checking the web everything with a garage is above 500€. Forgot, I don't get paid for housing.

...you could stay with me, free living in the barn but lots of work
in the garage and a good hour drive to Heidelberg.

I told some friends about your search, they look around.

Jerry/Linda said I could stay over too at first until I find something. I'll be looking for a nice place out of the city with a garage. I know that it won't be easy. I found a place to put the 69. Just need a place to sleep cause I'm not at home to much.
