Anbody know of a cheap f-body for sale, V8, with halfway decent motor and transmission/gears? Maybe somebody PCS'ing or so who don't want to ship their car?
(alternatively, a Vette or Viper, equally cheap, would be acceptable, also ... )

Try again ... Keyword here is "cheap" ... exterior can be run down, interior isn't that extremely important, it should just be halfway decent where technical stuff is concerned...

The key here is timing Garry. A 93-95 F body is practically worth nothing, so the chance of finding a high mileage 93-95 for 5k is not unheard of(refering to european market), but it wont last long on a lemon lot. The LS1's resales are dropping like rocks also, but still to expensive to be a viable option, unless it is a 98-99 (probably about 13-15k).
The soldiers will try to do something brilliant like sell it at German price levels, so just make sure you know the average/mint prices from a current NADA, and remember....Mods add absolutely zero additional price dollars. I would also advise, looking at only base Z28's or Firebirds if possible. You end up changing things anyway so why buy stuff you dont need or want.
Something worth considering is placing a ad in the Stars 'n Stripes. There are certainly some people thinking about selling for whatever reason, and that might be all they need to commit them.

Point is, after talking to my buddy here about the Z that was on EBay, and talking about the suspension mods, he's more or less fired up for doing some building here ... (he's a gearhead, he's had a vet with a - don't know ? 440? - motor, juice and stuff ... but that has been a while ... so something like the 2nd gen Z on ebay - at similar price levels - would be a good starting point ...

need with it just the engine and tranny or do you really want the whole car. If it's just the engine your looking for you can get it from the states. Just have one of the guys on the board buy it for you so you don't get taxed to death. That is if that's what you want to do.

With you guys reading the S&S daily, could you let me know when there's somebody PCS'ing or so selling a V8 F-Body? I only pick up the sunday issue every other week or so, so I don't get to see most of the adds being run...
