Hey all. I'm Brian and I have a 2001 Camaro SS with a few mods... nothing special. I'll be moving to Germany to do my student teaching through the DoDDS Program (Dept. of Def. Dependent Schools) starting in January. Not sure yet exactly where I'll be, as my assignment has not been passed along to me just yet. At any rate, I look forward to learning more about European F-bodies. Take care!

Welcome & bring your car over here!

There are some interesting race tracks here in Germany! ;)
Take a look at my website for some Nuerburgring pictures.

Thnaks guys. :) I'll be over there from the latter part of December/first of January until the end of April. If all goes well and I enjoy my experience, I'm planning on applying for a job there and will live overseas for 5-10 years.

I'm not going to bring my car for this initial short stint, but if I DO get offered a position, then HELL YES I'm going to bring my car! It's going to be tough enough not having it for almost 5 months, but I can't imagine not having it for more than that! :D One of the things I'm looking forward to is the rich tradition of cars, and I'm gonna have to hook up with you guys sometime so one of you can take me for a ride on the Ring or any other noteworthy roads in the area! :)

Well, with german weather, most of the folks here don't get to drive their cars for 4-6 months during winter, so ... nothing new there ... ;)

Heh heh... yeah, I didn't even think about that one. It snows every winter here in Flagstaff and I have an '86 Toyota 4x4 truck that I use as a daily driver... paid $500 for it from my neighbor last year when I moved up here and I can honestly say that was THE best $500 I have EVER spent. :P

Well, I was going to the Ring until mid November and started in early February, so that's far from "4-6 months". ;)

The guys in those patchwork-colored cars would have a problem with me using my car between November and February ... somehow that "3 - 10" on my licence plate seems to cause that ... ;)

If I'm not mistaken, I don't know that area too well, but I think there is a track really close, if not in that area.

Sembach is some 15minutes from Kaiserslautern ("K-Town"), somewhere like 30minutes from Ramstein AB ... pretty close to a good crowd of FBE members ...

Dude, welcome to the board. That's a sharp looking car. If I was you I would bring it and get a beater for the winter time. Park the camaro during the winter time. If you are like the rest of us, you will hate it when you get your doors blown off by a station wagon in your only car - the beater(wishing that you had the camaro here). Word of advise, get your car undercoated and a car cover for the winter time because garages are few and far between.

Excellent! At least I'll be somewhat close to people with decent cars if I get placed there. :P

HotRod - I'm not bringing my car this time, as it's only a stint from 4 Jan to 1 May. If all goes well while I'm there and I enjoy myself, I'm planning to apply for a permanent position... THEN I will bring the car over. :) It's farily snowy here in Flagstaff, as we sit right at 7,000ft, so I already have a beater 4x4 truck which is my winter transportation while the SS sits under a cover in the driveway. :)

Plan on moving here now. You WILL enjoy it here. Everything here is great. (Except for the stores closing by 8 and all day Sunday) Real beer, not the Kinder-beer found in the states, Autobahn, and the people. It's a great place to raise a family if you have one as well. See you soon!

I'm really looking forward to it, for sure! I trust there are plenty of cute, single women there? I haven't had a g/f in two years and am not about to get started with one here when I'm leaving. :P

I'm married so I can't answer that... Ask the single guys and they will tell you that just about all of the ladies here are beautiful. Like I said, the people here are great.
