Started the 1986 Camaro Sport Coupe "back axle project" at the end of August this year. Darn, that seems a long time ago!!
Here's the beast before
Here is the finished product (well very nearly!)- Stripped, sandblasted for 1 hour 5 minutes non stop! Etch primed, white primer, red smoothrite sprayed on and polished. Then, complete with stainless polished hard lines, stainless braided flexy (courtesy of uk89camaro), rebuilt and painted slaves, chrome diff cover secured with 10 polished stainless cap (allen) headed bolts, chromed anti roll bar, chrome U bolts, chromed anti roll bar spacer bracket, polished stainless brake pin spacer plates, new oil seals, LSD additive (£8 for a small tube!!) and new oil, brake backplate to casing threads drilled out and polished cap headed bolts and nylocs used instead. Phew. And that is only the back axle. No wonder this rebuild has taken 4 years so far! Almost there though.
Sport Coupes Rule!
Andy.

Hi ssz28.
Thanks for the reply.
It won't actually! The car is a show car, with air supension and mirrors. One hour up, one hour down! Perhaps 1 hour tilted!! Believe me, many people will see under this!
Andy.

Wow, that really looks fabulous! You better have some mirrors for that beast! It will be well worth the time, when you can sit back, and listen to admirers compliment you on all your hard work and time!
I need to do mine, too, but I was just thinking black since I have a red car.. Wouldn't want too much red!
Good luck!

Hi Roy.
No, not a trailer queen, but I will be selective as to when (and what weather) I drive it! I have another Camaro I drive all over the place. This car has been with us just after my Wife and I met (in 1994), so it will be treated right!
Thanks for everyone else's replies. Just wait till you all see the engine and box! Air suspension (with all chrome plated brackets) going in over next few days. Photos to come.
Andy.

I'm a serious engine-looking-good fanatic, so I can't wait to see that part of the car.. I can't stand when someone pops their hood, only to reveal a nasty looking engine!
