It had to happen. I've been wanting a Corvette since I sold my '85 but as I need 4 seats, I was going to buy a 2005 Mustang. However, have you seen the Ford video "Performance Trilogy"? It shows the Mustang, the Ford GT and the new AC Uglystick. The Ford GT tracks and flicks with unflappable precision and the Mustang oversteers like it's on marbles.
I knew then it had to be a Z06 and the 2002 405bhp model too. So I'm looking for one to import from the States right now. I can't wait to get hold of one. I'll be keeping the Z28 for when I need 4 seats too. Long live American muscle cars!

No... he lives in the UK, so his Pounds convert to a grip of USD.

Yep, at 1.88 dollars to the pound, the price of importing just keeps on dropping. Put it this way, I can get a 2002 Z06 with less than 10k on the clock for the same price as a new Nissan 350Z. Now that's a no-brainer.

Cool ... If I didn't already have three registered cars (well, part time anyway), I'd think about getting the 35th from K-Town or where that was ... 22k€ for a car with less than 1000mi on the clock ... well, the three cars plus the customs that would be added on to that are stopping me ...

This is proving harder than I thought. There were about ten Z06's in Maryland two weeeks ago. My loan came through and they were each and every one of them sold. A red 02 was sold before I even had a chance to get my man in the US to look at it. Sent him to see a silver 02 at a dealer but the dealer sold it about a half hour after he left! Now Maryland seeems to be a Z06-free zone.
However, I've tracked down a red 385bhp 2001. Less power and lacking a few improvements they put into the 2002 but only 11000 on the clock and in mint condition. So I'm hoping to buy this one although I may sell it (at a profit, naturally) once it gets to the UK and go back to get a later one.

You got a nice car! I like it!
I:ve seen this video also, it's not bad but the 05 Mustang is not my fav. yet.
I saw a yellow Z06 here in Germany last year, an awesome car. The only thing I don't like is that "hardtop". IMO, the targa version looks better.

Ah well, the whole deal is delayed a few months. Why? GM!
GM announce a recall on all Corvettes to cure a problem where the steering lock doesn't disengage but the fuel pump isn't disabled thus allowing the car to be driven only to find the steering lock is still on. On the autos, it's controlled by an electronic plate which can be removed but on manuals, it's controlled by the computer which has to be reprogrammed as part of the recall. That's the theory.
I try to buy a Z06 but as there are no longer any UK dealers within 500 miles to do the recall work, I want that work done first. The guy I'm wanting to buy from tries to get it done but the dealers are still in the dark and don't know what to do as GM haven't told them. The guy gets the area rep involved but she's none the wiser. So the deal's off until GM get their act together and I can buy a car with the mods done.
