OR Bruce!
Where did you guys get your rears from? If you could give me all the details, I'd really appreciate it. The more I think about it, the less sense it makes for me to spend at least half the price of a 9", just to beef up the stock rear a little. I'd rather spend twice as much, and have a rear that's gonna last probably as long as the car. I really don't have any 600+ HP desires. I'd be happy with 450-500 quite frankly.. Let me know. It won't be for a couple months, but I'm saving as I type this.
Thanks!

Have you actually bought the parts yet? If not, it's definitely NOT too late. I probably won't have the money until the middle of May, but at least it will be going towards something worthwhile.

I'm promising anything Jack but the timing is right for me I'll jump on a rear as well. Don't really want a 9" but if I deal pops up then so be it.

I really don't want to do it, either John, but the simple fact is that as soon as I rebuild it, it's gonna break again, and I'll be out another wad of cash. I should be ready to order it NLT the middle of May, but hopefully the end of next month. I just have to be EXTREMELY thrifty between now and then.

I can understand your situation. My philosphy is don't replace it til you break it. But in all honesty I can't possibly believe she'll hold out much longer even though I really know she would since I don't beat on it. I'm putting the cash away now just in case...........

Jack
I believe Val Has the info , I just followed suit.
Ibelieve the the housing and axles came from Thunder , along with the swaybar relocation brackets. The third member came from a wheel drive distributor.
Val?

Jack,
I went through David @ Thunder racing and bought the 9in complete ($1100 minus the center section and they shipped it BAX global ($440 for both rears) into Frankfurt. Bought the center section ($839) from 4wheelwhole sales (Brandon) and that was shipped UPS ($235) but had to go to Koln Airport to the UPS terminal to pick it up. Some of the hidden costs where, U joint ($13), bolts ($25 Euro) to hold the center section in (came with studs but no bolts), sway bar mounts ($50)(BMR), Limited slip additive ($36), Yoke for the center section ($125), POR15 ($100 euro)(to paint the rearend), & craftshop cost $125 for 2 days and welding. I found it cheaper to go this way by a couple hundred dollars. You could order it complete w/the center section so it all comes in together into Frankfurt to save all the running around. The one I got is a MOSER, 31 spline axles, auburn Pro series II diff w/3:89 persision gears. After I put about 500 miles on it I tried a "Bruce" 4800rpm clutch dump, no problems, like a rock, VERY pleased with it. I have no more worries about the rear going south on me. Hope this helps. If you can find someone to go in and get one at the same time it will make it ALOT more cost effective!! Like I said if you go through Thunder, ask for David and tell him Val sent you, he'll take GOOD care of you!!
Val

Thanks Val, that's a great help. I think John is going to go in on it with me. Anyone else? That would really make things easier on everyone involved.

Jack,
Right after I put it in I wrote a short article for the forum, check it out, it'll take you thru the process of what you have to do and some of the things you might run into. You'll be glad you changed to it after it's done. I failed to mention earlier that another reason that I didn't get the Moser center section and gears was because of "gear whine", Moser gears are bad for that. I have it now but it's not bad at all. If there is anything I can help out with let me know.
Val

I would be more than happy to. It would give the wife a good excuse to go shopping down there while I'm helping you out Do you have a date to order them yet????

Why did you guys go with that particular diff, and not a spool? Just curious. I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need for my application. Also, are you guys retaining ABS?

JAck
Spools don't allow for proper differentation when making turns, Will cause thecar to have an inherent underseer situation when turning that will turn into snap over steer when the throttle is applied. Could be fun though
BTW I went with a Detroit Locker
