I went to get my car inspected so I could get it reregistered and it failed for two reasons. One reason was that you can not switch between high and low beams with the wheel fully tilted down but it did work in every other position. The other reason was the blackouts I have on the back. Sounds pretty stupid to me but the part that got me scratching my head the most was the fact that he failed it for those two reasons but not for the burnt out taillight. I even asked him if there was anything else and he said no just the headlights and the blackouts he said if I got that fixed he would pass it. Now is just me or is that just plain retarded? :?

In those guys defense, they inspect an ass load of cars a day. Still, it would be kinda hard to miss a tailight.

The problem I had when I picked my car up was that it ran out a gas. Maybe cause I revved it for about 15 minutes listneing to the motor.

Just take the blackouts off prior to inspection then put em' back on after you pass. That is odd though. Did you get it to pass after those 2 mentioned problems?

Yeah I got it to pass I went to ramstein and had the blackouts off and the wheel tilted all the way up. I showed em my fail slip and they looked at it checked the lights and they worked so... I do understand that they have alot of cars to inspect but I worked in a dealership doing state inspections where you gotta check alot more than what they actually do so I dont really feel sorry for em at all

They're only anal w/ folks whose cars are modded. I've got a 84 rust bucket VW golf and that thing pass w/ flying colors. My car on the other is probably one of THE safest vehicle's in Ramstein but they get on me for anything like dab of oil resting on the tunnel of the ds bay. I mean ridiculous because the Golf leaks like the Nile and I'll have them inspected back to back at that!

You're lucky then John, because they failed my bug so hard I had to park the car and register it NON-OP right there on the spot. I really dislike the guys at Kapaun with a PASSION!

And that's the reason I do it on Ramstein. I'm glad they opened that place back up and have military and Germans inspect. The German guy there is pretty cool and a little bit of a car nut. I know I watched him goose my car on approval and see him spin it 180. :D

He just wanted to know what it felt like since it sounded so good to him. I didn't mash it but just enough to break the tires while in a turn. It looked seeing him do it and lookin at my car. Gave me a instant grin. :D
