dont want to butt in too much
The TPS should run on a minimal setting, meaning that the computer will average it out. As long as you dont bust the max voltage at WOT, the computer will just reset the low values as closed throttle so it can actuate the idle speed motor. I had a problem with mine (damn that BBK T body)
If you guys come up with a cool way of setting the rockers let me know. If I dont set them with the engine running I cant even get close. WILL SOMEONE DEFINE 0 LASH!!!!
We kinda got a up on the 93 in that our Map sensor is on the 4th or 5th thing the 'puter will check, but it is important nonetheless and worth checking.
I got basically a 306 as far as lift, but my lsa and duration are differant and I suffer from the "so you want to lift throttle and idle, then I'm gonna die syndrome" as well. You pretty much diagnosed yours, if it runs good in open loop thats standard data, if it wants to die out in closed loop, the left hand is telling the right hand differant stuff (basically its a tuning issue traced back to the program.)
If you come up with a magic bullet for the idle let me know. Its still kinda funny when I come to a stop light and it dies, you see the guy in the next lane kinda giggle, then you fire it back up, his jaw hits the floorboard, and he lets you go on your way *laugh*
