Well on the way to pick out a (inch for my car. Need that extra insurance with the power I am going to be putting out. Not to mention I like the idea of swapping center sections for the bahn. I figure a 389 for the strip and a 3.0 for the bahn I may even put a spool in the strip one.

Hey man
first of all super cool setup
I got a question, what BOV are you using? The mondo? or the crap they send with the kit? Also, I know its apples and oranges, but did you go big on the injectors, or middle of the road and then FMU?
I want to use 42# but I dont want to run 80psi on the fuel with 42#ers
Right now I'm running 10psi with 24pound SVO injectors at 80psi fuel pressure. My duty cycle is way up there and I want to get it back down to 80 to 85%. Im not near the hp level as you, but boost is boost.

Rob- If you don't mind what size injectors are you running on your 383. I've been talking to john about upgrading the small 24's to a set of 30's to maybe cure my burning eyes rich problem in my 383. I'm getting ready to get it inspected but the way this runs rich I don't think I have a prayer with the Mass state emissions laws. I think my 24's are just dumping the fuel instead of spraying it so it leads me to believe there working way to hard to compensate the motor. Any of your advice would be greatly appreciated.
The Stang and Z look good man I've always loved those LG rims.

I am going to go with High impedance 50lbs injectors and with no FMU those things are "He said POOP". FMU will kill your mid range. I just found out that they are coming out with 60 lbs injectors for high impedance. If they are out by the time I puchase then I will go with them. Now for the blow off I am going with a mondo bypass with Vortec. I am currently using the small plastic one on my 306. I am going to have the mondo just release the pressure out under the hood rather than rcycle it in the inlet. It sounds really cool when it lets go. You know you injectors go static at 80 psi right? And why would you go 80 psi with 42 lbs injectors? You could probably get away with 36 lbs injectors unless you are going with more boost. Ryan I dont know how the GM omputer is but if you lower your fuel pressure to much the computer will compensate the pulse width t make up for the low fuel pressure cause it to run rich in some instances. my car has 30 lbs injectors and I lowered my fuel pressre to 36 psi and was running fat as hell. I took and bumped it up to 42 psi and now I am fine the computer is adjusted.

Hey Rob I thought you got rid of the stang for a focus? Or is your Camaro boosted. And if it is what times are you running?

Thats the BOV I want to use, anything that has the word "mondo" in it has to be cool. I just didnt now if it could be used for the lower boost apps. I dont want to run that much FP, right now the pressure is way up because thats the Vortech logic (most companys I guess) boost FP, then it will work with the stock inj so we can advertise stock safe, atleast for awhile. When I go to a bigger injector, (thinking #42) I was just curious if there was a need to keep the FMU. Seems to me I wouldnt, but I'm a rookie. Its gonna be a real trial and error as far as tuning A/F ratio, but I intend to run on the rich side (not wash the rings out rich, but safe sided rich) My N/A FP is 44psi, and I dont see me lowering it, I would rather play with the pulse widths.

395stang:
The Cobra is a memory, sold it last June/July, and the 5.0 went away alittle more than a year ago. The Focus gets me to work, and over the winter some little gnomes stuck a S trim into the camaro. It is in its begining stages, and hasnt been anywhere yet except around the block (gotta stay within walking distance if it dies ). I really need to update my sig pic
I'm gonna be bolting on the aftercooler in the next week (whenever it gets here) and then I guess there is nothing to do except drive it and work on the tune. I should give it a opportunity to explode later in april, then I will give you a time (Its not gonna be good I guarentee it). I'm really spooky about it, because the only thing I have had done to strengthen it is ARP hardware and Probe forged pistons (still 10:1) I know she is gonna pop, but I'm hoping it is later rather than sooner.
Ryan, I've always had the SVO #24's. I dont think they are the smart choice, but its what I've used.

10.1:1 w/ a S trim? You are gonna give up the ghost quick but not that quick. As long as your tuning is dead on you'll be actually.
93's are the only ones that can play w/ fp and not have the PCM affect it. I love that part of it but hate the chip. You are right though Rob it's the pulse widths that need tinkering w/ in Ryan's case as well as mine.
However Ryan I'd throw a set of 30's on there anyways because the program may be for 30's. You wouldn't believe how many chips I have because they just assume I'm running 36's vs 30's. That's the reason my car finally runs to this day because of Ed verifying the 30's along w/ the pulse widths. All those other chips I've got are for 36er's.

Rob as long as you get the fuel right with the 10to 1 comp you will be ok. As long as you dont have really shitty head gaskets. My combo is 10 to one too but I have my block o-ringed and I am unning copper head gaskets. And with the S-trim you wont move so much volume of air. The intercooler is really going to help. I would deffintly go 42lbs injectors. For my combo I am going with 55 or 60 because that is the highest high impedance I have found and I am probably going with a t-trim. Later i will buy an aftercooler. Stay awa y from FMU when you get the 42s they have a tendancy to mess with your mid range. I used to run an fmu and now I dont have one and it made the biggest difference. One other biggy i hope you are running a BTM(boost timing master) while you have it with boost either a msd box or in your tune if you dont I wouldnt drive it till you do. I have mine set at 2 degrees retard for every pound of boost because of the warm weather here in NC. But when it is a nice and cool like at night I will drop it to 1 to .75 degrees retard. And far as the mondo bypass you can run it with the s-trim most people do. You should give me your email address or phone # and I will call or email you with more info. I would really like to see pics of under your hood sounds like a beast. My email address is

Yeah john you may be on to somthing with the program because if Robs running 24's and not having a problem even with a huffer I shouldn't be having a problem. I may just get a set of 30's and see what happens when i throw them in. I have the feeling If the injectors don't cure it I need to just get it tuned and not mess with it again. I was doing so good on the rich problem (sorta) but ever since I got it from the port it's an eye burning car that will make you think twice about lighting a cigarette around it

just want to make sure I didnt leave a wrong impression. I have always had the same 24#SVO's, but I know that they are not enough for boost. I would bet my duty cycle is way higher than the comfort zone, that is why I want to go 42#. With the FMU I'm using higher fuel pressure to trick the injectors into spraying more when they are open.
You can do the old injector formula to give you a rough idea of what you need. Its my take that this is only a close guess on a N/A motor
Engine HP x BSFC
Number of Injectors x 0.8
so if you have 450rwhp (this is a guess)
450 X .5 = 225 8 X .8 = 6.4 225 / 6.4 = 35.15
so theoritically 36# would be at a 80% duty cycle

I had the Z dynoed in germany at the volkswagen dealer in k-town with john. The car had a smooth curve and shut the dynoe down at 5200 rpm and it was pushing 380hp at the wheels. I'm guessing if they could have brought it up to atleast 6500 where it pulls I would be looking at around 400 +or- at the wheels. I know the 24s are working way to hard to compensate so I figure I'll just get some 30 s and see where I stand. It wouldn't hurt anyways since there the original injectors with 60K on them and alot of the time they were sitting dry in my tool chest. I appreciat the calculation info and I'll see where I stand. damn cars once you get the power you can't get them running right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
