I was always running Norton, but it alone would not due. Now I got the firewall on and no Norton! Ha.

Maybe I should get that up and running. You think!

Is it Norton Internet Securities , If it is then it by itself is enough. It sounds like you might have a pop up engine embedded on in your system somewhere. Have to scan deep to get them programs out .
I had one , NIS shut it down and deleted it . I got that littel bugger from my daughter whenshe downloaded a Mettallica screensaver and when NIS was off.

no upgrade to DSL - stuck with ISDN. because in our road we got a new fiberglas phone cable in 91, which is not DSL compatible.

so I try to limit my time (call-by-call) on the internet to not pay half of my paycheck for phone bill at the end of the month.
try to type offline and no downloads, they take forever.
It also seems that since almost everybody got DSL all the files get bigger and bigger.

Silke that is so true , but do you have ISDN plus to get SAT and Sun and Holidays Gratis. Plus on those days you can dial in both channels of ISDN for a 128k Download/upload connection.
But I was just wondering if DSL ANALOG won't work for you ? Or one of the new Sat systems coming out. BNest of luck though.

If anyone wants SUPER fast DSL that never kicks you off, go with Interquest. They are located in Landstuhl and the guy will fix your computer and help troubleshoot if needed. Their website is: http://www.interquest.de

T-Online DSL sucks!!!

@Roy: Nope, no chance for DSL at Silke's place so far ... the satellite stuff isn't worth much, either, might be quicker, but you still need ISDN for the uplink, and the cost isn't exactly low ...

@kent: small companies are usually a lot better with service ... ;) Plus, depending on their own backbone, might have superior features even though using the same DSL-hookup (i.e. T-DSL) ... that's what we do, too, but mainly for business customers ...

Thanks, I had a few pop blockers, and adware stuff, but still got bit. Guess I was on the wrong side of the tracks at the wrong time. An xp reload isn't that bad. I have all the important stuff(car videos and such) stored on a spare hard drive. I'll keep pluggin along.

I use greennet DSL works great and your right T-online does suck!
