Some of you may know my stroker was built by a moron, and that it didn't last more than 50 miles. Well we finally found out how much of a moron he really was.

Previous post on this.

http://fbodyeurope.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4202

New info below.

Now that the motor has been at Rocky Mountain Compe*****ive Research to get rebuilt, here is what they have found when they tore it down.

Did I mention that my previous builder is a f'in moron, and if I find him....God help me.

The first and worst mistake was that the oil pump body was not clearanced to clear the main stud of the rear cap. This causes the oil pump to be cocked on the rear cap which is where it supplies oil to the engine. With it cocked I would say that the engine had very little oil pressure or volume since day 1. Problem 2 was that they pressed the rear cam plug in way to far, which caused the camshaft to have no endplay and even was applying pressure to the front cam retaining plate. This caused damage between the cam gear and this plate. I don't know yet whether the timing chain is usable. Problem 1 caused lots of damage to all of the engine bearings. The crankshaft doesn't look too bad. A polish will probably clean it up. The rods are OK. The pistons have lots of bearing material stuck in the side of them, but will probably clean up. The biggest problem I see is that the engine was starved for oil so badly that the center cam bearing seized to the camshaft and started spinning in the block, damaging the block.

Well when the block was sent to the machine shop, they discovered that when he clearance it for the stroker crank, he found one of the water jackets. But wait, it gets better, he pluged it with epoxy!

So it appears I now have to get a new block, plus have all the machining and clearancing done once again. Lucky me.

Mav, now out $3k, but toasting all of you with a beer in hopes this doesn't happen to you.

apperently he was clearancing for that 8 inch throw crank you didnt know you had?????

that is just plain terrible, I hope this guy gets what he deserves. I just cant imagine what a person is thinking if they screw up a pushrod motor. The design is 50+ years old, its not a nuclear reactor.

hey mav I hate to break it to you but everybody who knows your builder already knows he is a stupid freaking moron. We would take our motors to a town like an hour or two away to get machine work done. If anybody ever winds up in Elk City get ahold of me or mav to figure out where not to go.

Sad thing is he skipped town and can't be found. Nobody's safe now. He could end up anywhere!

I could have done this damn thing better myself with one hand and two blind eyes. Just sad.....plain sad.

Dude that sucks! I did my own strocker motor. I got the parts out of Cali. Nothing like being positive about what is in your own engine.

I didn't know he skipped town. that sucks I am amazed it took him that long to run he has been doing bad business for as long as I have known about him.
one reason I might not know that he left town is because I haven't been there in almost a year and I was only there for a couple of days then.
