My dad is having an emergency procedure next Thursday to enlarge the spinal column passage his spinal cord passes through in his neck. He apparently fractured his neck years ago, but never realized it. Now, calcium has built up around the area of the fracture and is squeezing his spinal cord. The operation is critical enough that he had to have a physical to ensure he's healthy enough to have it done. So, as his only immediate family, I'm outta here on Tuesday to assist him during his convalescent period and, most important, be there if anything unexpected should happen.
Becasue of the operation, my DEROS was also extended again... to November, should give me time to get the T/A up. Of course, a trip to the US, even under unfortuante circumstances, can't go without offering some pickups...anyone need anything? Drop me a line if you do....
Peace

Hope everything goes well ... I'd have something, but it doesn't fit carry-on ... (no, not car-related)

Thanks guys...my Dad is the only family I have left, every little bit helps.
Jas, Wendy's is the first place I plan on hitting on my Dad's first overnight at the hospital (that and a titty bar). I'd bring something back if I thought I could keep from eating it myself on the way back to Germany...

Barry, I hope everything turns out ok, and I know your Dad will be happy to see you. I am sorry for his current condition, but all things work out in the end. Just know that!
If you could bring me back some Meguiar's NXT, that would be GREAT!

My dad's surgery went well. He had three vertebrae in his neck replaced. Right now he's got titanium screws holding everything together until the bone graft is good an healed then they go back in to take the hardware out.
Thanks to everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and e-mails...
Barry
