Sorry but I didn't see anything about Auto-X or road racing.... I thought in order to be "King" there was more to it than just going in a straight line?!?!
Not trying to be an A$$ but just asking the question.

Its not my event so your not being an ass to me.
I especially like how about 20 of the cars that have registered are claiming 1000+bhp.
Would be a fun trip though.

BLAH!BLAH!BLAH! You might as well conform to the realization that you need to be set up for the 1/4. I guess that you are right about the true King of the Hill having to be an all around car. .

How much are they charging? I'd be careful with the payment, which "has to be sent by mail" ... there have been more than a few dragracing events canceled over the last year or two, some on very short notice ... so payment on site would probably be not to bad an idea ...

HotRod, I figure if I do enough hell raising about the "other" types of racing they might actually start adding it to other events too.

Can we race for money? If so I may have to rethink my car set up. Although it could possiably such since I am running an automatic.

In a blinkered life some people might think that drag racing is the center of the universe. Here in Europe, where racers actually pride themself that they can turn a steering wheel, dragracing is regarded as a sport(?) for no-brainers. Everytime dragracers are challenged to participate in real racing, they hide their lack of steering skill behind the exscuse that their cars are only set up for the 1/4 mile. And then they call themself racers!
Try Val and Roy's sport, it's slightly more difficult but a lot more rewarding because good results depends on your skill and not the power of your car. Then you can call yourself a racer and realize that dragracing is not such a big deal.

So Much Hatred!
Why?
Drag Racing as any motorsports require skills. Reaction time, ability to shift, modulate trottle, all while the car is accelerating (some faster than others) requires some skill.
I have to agree if a vehicle or driver is going to be call KOTH has to be well rounded. But, you will have to make some compromises either way.
I think that they are talking in regards to DRAG RACING KOTH (i.e: quickest car/driver in the 1/4 mile)...not the All Around KOTH.
I mean, it's the way you read it...I guess.
Me personally don't have any problems with "X'rs", "RCs" or any of the others. I favor Drag Racing because that is where I grew up but I consider my vehicle "all around" since my suspension is 50/50 DR/RC set-up. You could ask TEK how the car handled his "Z" at over 150 MPH in the bahn...and not just in the straights.
Just my .02

No hatred, just a good portion of sceptism towards guys who think they are racers because they have the "skill" to shift gears in a straight line. That exceptional "skill" was a basic requirement to pass my drivers licence test (and the government certainly didn't stamp "racer" on my licence afterwards).

2Slow, You and Roy really opened my eyes to AWESOME world of Auto-X & road racing, it would be nice to see others get out there and give it a try...
Nazman,
Since I've been here in the Europe I've only seen one Mustang run the Auto-X (1 time). I would welcome the oppurtunity to run against other American Muscle and of course European makes. I grew up around Drag Racing too but have since fallen in love with the "other" types of racing. I would LOVE the chance to run against some Mustangs on the Auto-X & Road Course. I'm not saying that I would blow their doors off but I would like to think that I would give them a run for their $$$$. I knew that they meant KoTH for the Drags, I just was "stirring the pot". What do you think the chances are of getting a few of the Mustangs out there next year????

For next year, maybe Hertz or Avis would like to "lend" us a reference car so that everybody can compete on an equal level. Then maybe some of the dragracers can come over and try their hand at Auto-X with out the usual exscuses about having a 1/4 mile setup.
I can even run a 1/2 day driving school for the newbies.
Just thinking out loud.

Sounds GOOD to me!!
What do you all think about maybe running a points system for the whole season to have an overall champion at the end of the year for auto-x, road course, drag, and then for the KOTH too.......thinking out loud
