Since there was streetracers in Worms caught in an accident on Saturday night it happened that a Reporter searched for illegal racing in Rheinland-Pfalz and found 1on1 (initiative against illegal racing) He called on Sunday afternoon and asked if I had time for an interview: of course I did. Right away via phone.
Monday morning there was an impressive artikle in DIE RHEINPFALZ, about Worms and Bitburg (1on1).
Then the phone rang. Not one time, but about ten times until I left the house. More interviews per phone.
Yesterday afternoon I had a taped interview at a Radio Station in Kaiserslautern which was on early this morning.
Then I had an interview via headset from the K-Town radio station with another radio station sending that interview live.
In the evening I had an appointment with the TV station at Mainz.
First through mask for a perfect make-up, then a live interview at the Landesschau, which is the "News" at the 3rd channel.
Tomorrow another appointment with the Pirmasens Newspaper.
The TV station asked if I allow them to make a Report, 30 April at Bitburg. I said yes.
Is that a start into the season, or what?
... it is kind of stressful, to travel from studio to studio and to be aware and always find the right words, give the right answers ...
BTW: Garry taped the TV interview. Don't really know how the other interviews at the radio stations been.

As long as they interview me (when I'm drunk), it'll be cool.

For us, yes ... for the woman killed in Bielefeld by the idiot racing, and the guy and his girlfriend that got hurt in Worms, not really ... too bad that we couldn't get decent coverage BEFORE something happened ...
Oh well, as long as we can just keep a single person from getting hurt or killed, it's worth the trouble and work ...
P.S. - I'll bring the TV report from yesterday to Bitburg on April 30th ...
P.P.S. congrats, Silke! Good work on TV!

You mean when you're drunk, your talking makes more sense than when you're sober?

Very good Silke. Not might be a good time to try getting some sponsorship for helping keep street racers off the street. It also might help open up some additional venues for racing if you work it right.

Anymore information on the accident in Worms? That's my town...I had no clue that there was a racing scene here? I never see any car meetings. Not that I'd be racing on the street...driving fast alone? Well we all know the answer to that one.

As far as I read the driver was racing well over 100k and didn't make a curve anymore ... plain stupid ...

Yes I agree, it is very sad that it takes accidents to get attention.
We keep up the program since the very beginning: when I asked to rent the taxiway my major argumentation was: to keep streetracers off the street.
And everybody doing street racing while we have such a great opportunity to race legal, with timeslips, in an environment which is as safe as possible, is just simply stupid and dangerous - as Darmstadt, Nürnberg, Bielefeld and Worms proof.
The good start into the season is: We get more free advertisement, and yes I will take the opportunity to go further and ask for sponsoring and I will ask the government to back us up if the airport is giving more difficulties... with the simple fact that they don't want the streetracers back on the street.
They can not send out a policemen per each car, and they can not just forbid and rule, they got to do something to give the people nowadays an opportunity to do their sports.
One of my argumentations was, there was competitions at all the time: they had horse races since antique times, and for the young people the car is what the horse was to our grand fathers (may sound stupid, but oh well)
Now that I got the attention, you better believe I will take every opportunity to spread the word!
Which also means that I will need everybodys assistance if they show up at Bitburg on the 30th: Act civilized and keep the yard clean. I know you all do, but also help to remind others to behave, if necessary. Very important: tell them how great it is to have a legal place to race vs. racing on the streets. If possible no extra "shows" where something unexpected could happen.
Thank you all in advance for your help!
And thank you for your support all the time!

Now you go and bring some life into the 1on1 board... feel free to ask questions. All the newspaper and radio and TV guys are watching and reading nowadays...

Well I am learning from my German friends that the accident happened less than 1 mile from my house (as the crow flies).
They were racing on the B9 (same road that I got my ticket...but in a different location and different type of road) In this location it is a typical highway and they were racing single file. The guy that died was trying to take a righthand turn @ 140kph and crashed into a grove of trees. Dunno why he tried to do this. So yeah...stupid death.
