Man I'm so pissed it's unbelieveable! My Pops tried shipping my GMMG through the PO w/ no success even w/ creative packaging. I don't exactly what is creative method was but I trust him wholeheartedly and he always comes through for me.

So what they hell do I gotta do?! UPS will probably lick me good and I don't even know if it'll come directly to my house here off base. I'm thinking I'd have to go to Frankfurt to pick it up and pay import tax if I don't have the paperwork etc. Why in heavens name does this have to be so difficult. BAX Global shipped my engine back in the day but that was a hassle too. I'm tired of the hassles.

So my only other option is wait til June and bring it back on the plane but until then I'm exhaustless literally. :(

Jerry you got a private plane to bring it back on? :D

This may be a viable option for us all right here. I have to find out if it works. Won't know for a few days when I hear back from my Pop's.

consider this: have your dad take the system to a local pipe shop, ask them to cut in specific places(few as possible to get them into shipping boxes). Then have them custom streach connection peices. Picture a soup can with the ends cut out that perfectly fits over the two cut peices. Then buy a couple of extra clamps and all should be good.
Might interup flow a little, but the two peices should fit almost perfectly together.

There is a way to get it shipped via DHL / UPS / Fedex you just have to run the customs paperwork first. Not easy but not hard either. Just time intensive. If you want I can track down the exact process for you.

Secondly you can do what he said above (good idea) or also weld the exhaust back together at the cut point.

I lucked out in that my SLP exhaust was able to be broken down by the shop I bought it from enough to be shipped through APO.

Thanks for the info tbiker. Any other exhaust I'd cut in a heart beat but not the GMMG prived over 700 bucks. Can't do it. Further more I don't trust the peeon's over here to weld let alone weld it 1/2 azz. I'll just wait it out and bring it back w/ me. I've waited this long.......what's another 2 mos?

Hopefully though the APO shipping link I posted can help me out but if not it'll be late June before I'm back on the road.

why don't you get a container to ship it over, I'd help to fill it up with lots of parts. :D

Thanks.

Is it welded? If not, just have him take it apart and send it that way. If that still doesn't work, I guess you are just SOL. I wanted to have mine shipped, but it still didn't work, so I just told the guy to hang on to it for me. I just finally got it last week. It was $160 shipped, but the guy paid for half, which was way cool. I hope you get it sorted out man. :(

It is welded. I was dealing with GMMG on a group purchase a couple years ago. They told me they would ship it via USPS. I was told by Ray, the one that sold his GMMG to Jack, I think that was his name, that it could not be shipped via USPS without it being cut. Well, a week or so went by and I contacted GMMG again to see what was up. They informed me that it could not be shipped via USPS and that they were going to eat up the cost and send it via UPS. I think it was around $230. They ate up the difference due to it being their error. Shipping was quick! I had it sent to work. I will look to see if I can find out how much it did actually cost.

Silas,
Send it UPS. Yes it's a pain in the ass but I did it for the center sections on the 9in rears. They where 1lb over the USPS weight limit. It costed $235 for 2 day UPS (76lbs). I did the paperwork at customs (MPs)(took 5mins), then drove to Koln UPS terminal got the paper work from them walked it to the Zoll office got their stamp (10mins) walked back to the terminal and I was out with my stuff!! It's a really easy process I've done it 4 times already just takes some gas and alittle bit of your time.

Well Val maybe I'll ship it to you then. LOL! SO you didn't go to the airport to pick it up, right? Just want clarification on that. I know there is a UPS center here in the KMC somewhere I see the brown trucks all the time. I doubt the exhaust would be as much in terms of cost like your center section so it should be less. I just didn't want to be paying anything extra but I may have to go that route.

If it involves anything w/ Frankfurt........forget it. I remember the hassle of getting my longblock years back and the 7-8 hr process.

If you go to the airport you dont have to pay customs or handeling. You just have to have the customs papers from on base to pick it up and the shipping cost from pick up to airport. I shipped all my stuff to Koln for the 91. Or you can have it shipped direct to your house or business but that will add about 200 euro more. All my car audio comes this way its pretty expensive. Goes buy weight and value.

Well if I can have it shipped to my door then I'm going that route. I'm NOT doing the airport scenario again. You can tell it left a very bad taste in my mouth. :D

Where the hell is Koln at? That's twice I've seen that posted on here. Thanks!
