This is a link to a post on the ChirpThird board by Scott Settlemire, the former Assistant Brand Manager for Corvette/Camaro. It relates to some of GM's current problems and what the future holds. One interesting thing he says is that there is a new V8, rear wheel drive coupe in the future for Chevrolet. Interesting read. He definitely responds to some of the criticisms about GM quality with some facts.
"Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you." "Speed doesn't kill - suddenly becoming stationary on the other hand ..."
There might be a lot of truth in what he says, but it doesn't count for much. What matters is how the buying public sees GM and in that department they are not doing very good. How else would they explain their market share drop from 35% to somewhere around 24%?
Once the public have doubts in your product it takes a LONG time to restore the faith (example: it took Audi 15 years after that false hatchet job done by 60 minutes). Starting to sell cheap-sh*t Korean products with GM badges on is not going to help their case either.
I think that GM still have some very dark days ahead before they turn things around.
My 2cent's worth of opinion, but I doubt if anybody can prove me wrong.

I really like gm but I think all the car companies are in bed together anyways.
there are a few gm's with toyota motors. and the chevy tracker is a suzuki
and I really don't agree with them putting a chevy bowtie on a kia either.
