Would this fit in a 2nd gen? Would that make sense?

Randy, how old is it, how much has it run, and how many HP does it have at the flywheel? (still got to find a car first, though ... :))

The engine is from a 94 Z28 Camaro and has 95,000 miles on it. (I know) The engine is rated at 275 HP and 325 FTLBS of torque. It ran like a top before I pulled it out.

I have the complete motor with all accesorys for sale. It will bolt on to your existing mounts. You will also need the wireing harness and computer, That also comes with the engine. Let me know what you want.

I may need to buy a part off of you. I just did somthing stupid thinking I had another one and I didn't. I pried out the old opti gasket thinking I had another one and I don't. And I'm getting impatient with waiting for parts to come in. I talked to a German parts store and they said they could get one but i've been told those words to often to believe them. So if your willing to either trade out timing chain covers plus a few bucks for the hastle. Or I'll just buy the whole timing chain cover off of you. I'll trade out if you want to keep the Lt1 together.

Forget it.
The pre 95 opti spark units ARE NOT compatible with your 96 Z !!!
Not the unit, the cover, wiring, gaskets, etc .. nothing.
It would be a serious dissapointment to find this out after taking all that junk off :(

Why would the timing chain cover be any different from a 93 to a 96? I thought that the only difference was the venting system on the opti spark itself. The only real reason I need the whole timing chain cover is for the opti gasket. I know it might be old but until I can get another one I'll just use that one. I just want to drive a few more times before I put it away for the winter or until it gets nasty out. This whole down for 2 1/2 months is starting to get to me.

Believe me, the cover is NOT the same !
There is a totally different hole in the cover and what not.
I'm doing a V6 to Lt-1 swap and i pretty much know ALL the engines and differences by heart as i made a study of it.

See it for yourself:

Seen several 'oldtimers' and pickups running with Lt-1's in the states, BUT it did involve some serious work and mostly the Accel DFI setup to make it run good and save an enourmous amount of hassle to get it working properly.
