The military has the right to prevent you putting yourself in danger, ie rock climbing, mountain biking, kyaking, sky diving and racing. The CANNOT prevent you from WATCHING such events. 1SG and Cmdrs seem to forget this. Personally I would rather my soldiers watching races than down town getting in bar fights because they over drink. Just another point of "higher ups" over controling their soldiers.

well, there will be at least 1 officer going Saturday, and I'll be at Nurburgring on Sunday too. Seriously, I've never had a problem with my chain of command doing this type of thing. I do take all of the resonable safety percautions (SA00 helmet, 6-point harness, prep and inspect my car, don't go out if something doesn't feel right) and most of them think it's pretty cool. I did get a "safety briefing" from 1 squadron/cc who didn't know anything about racing and was just reading the information from a paper and I ended up correcting 3/4 of it for him and explaining how everything works.

As far as drag racing goes, the only wrecks I've seen with street cars were because the driver simply didn't lift off the throttle when things got out of control. If the tires are spinning, the run is going to suck anyways, so just lift off, go around and try again.

On that note, is anyone caravanning up from the K-town area?

Also, if anybody asks, at least at 1on1 we are following (and exceeding) NHRA safety regulations, i.e. requiring everybody to wear a helmet, no matter what speed ... so if they trust good ol' US NHRA, they should honor that, too ... ;)

I have tried this as well. The problem I have is that a few 1SG here have this mind set that all we do is the Fast and Furious stuff. I have explained this till I am blue in the face. I know one MSG that drag races in the US and he has even tried to explain it as well. Some not all Cndr just do not get it.

Just FYI ... the second fastest trap speed in Bitburg this weekend was by a Honda Civic ... behind a 90something white Rustang that ran a 10.8 @ 144 ... (will get the exact numbers on the 1on1 site tomorrow ...

Yup, be warned Hawk, Clay is going to own you! Too bad he couldn't get more than 12 PSI out of it, loose clamp. He'll be needing a parashoot very soon! 10.83 @ 143MPH

We shall see? But just to honest I may be out of the racing stuff for a while. Politics of my new job are on a collision course with my fast car and racing. Bottom line prolly can not have both without some flack!
