I am planning a trip early spring next year to Germany & maybe Poland with one of my F-bodies. It is in the plans to ship my 94 Z28 (from Long Beach CA) to Bremerhaven where I will use it as my tranportation for the 5 weeks of travel. Although it has a few mods, this crazy car has over 300k California miles on original LT1, so it is my next project to get ready. The F-body is my favorite auto-toy & we have awsome mods available for them. Although I would rather bring my 93 TA to Europe, it still looks, drives & smells new but I do remember the hard winters in Germany & I am not sure about road conditions in Poland. Anyway, after nearly 18 months of research, part locating & raw engineering, my 93 TA is done! The 96 OEM LT4 was the most interesting swap I have performed & at 400 + HP it is sweet. I must say that this is not a task if you are in a hurry. The biggest problem I had after finding a factory LT4 was locating the SLP extrude-honed exhaust manifolds & moding the accy bracket for the Dual-mass balancer. Finding non-MAF Ram Air parts for the 93 only was not that easy until I located more SLP part numbers. The Stage 3 mods were an interesting trip down suspension lane too. Nearly all of the LT4 related mods are SLP special parts for the 97 LT4 FireHawks or SSs. Of course the 4L60 was built for 550 HP & a new chip was burned to include the LT4 tables targeted for an A4. I will be staying with friends in Frankfurt & I hope to see some local events if time allows. Anyone with recommendations on the best gas to use (in Germany & Poland)? When I was stationed in the Nurnberg area we were always tied to ESSO due to the coupons.

Thanks, I have been able to find the Polish expression for Unleaded gas but since I do not speak Polish, I want to find 95 or higher octane gas from a good source. My German is enough where I can get by in Germany & I would imagine Shell Gas would be a good source although they are the most expensive here in California. Yes, I do have cats & will not be removing them.

I don't know if you are still in or not...but the other day I saw a guy that was on leave from the states in Germany and he was using the Esso coupons and buying gas on Post. I don't know how he did it or even if it is legal...but it's something to look into.

Some Aral stations have the super 100 octane fuel.

Some times you can use get away with Super+ coupons (98 octane) for the 100 octane gas other times you can't

Red, 1 thing to remember about Europe is that octane ratings are different here. 98 here is equal to 93 in the states.

Yes, Lancer you are correct. I did not want to get into the RON vs. MON calculations in the post since most in Europe are accustom to the RON, I would do the math myself. The main factors that save many HP drivers in Europe from heavy pings are the air density & lower temps. Nonetheless, my car is tuned to run better at about 94 octane (r=m/2) so I need to get 99 RON to come close to that. I can get 100 octane at selected Union 76 Stations here in SoCal but that takes me for a bath at $6.50/gal. If I go to Vegas the trip across the desert is a bit more fun at higher speeds. So, it sounds like the Shell or BP 100 RON gases in Europe will do the trick at about 95 octane (r+m/2). Thanks.
