LS2 is fairly cheap @ $5,995 from GMPP Catalogue...compare that to the $14,000 for an LS7 and the cost benefit ration becomes apparent. From what I've seen on E-bay the LS2 is still commanding around $4k or so...depending on auction and what kind of attention it grabs...so it's almost better to just call up your Opel dealer and get a quote for a new one.
Food for thought.

DHL has the best pricing I have seen so far. I'd guess around $600

JeeJee,
Look up "Billy Graham Auto Salvage" on the internet, he deals strickly in F-bodies & GTOs. He also ships to Europe. His prices are very reasonable and has all the items that you would be looking for for your project i.e motor, trans, rearend, wiring harness...... and he's a nice guy.

Yes,
2 9in ford rear axle housings complete from Indiana to Frankfurt airport.
BAX Global shipped them for $440. I'm sure he'd work with you getting the engine over here. Like I said BAX Global will do it, there on the internet, sorry I don't have more info but I threw most of it out when I moved. Bax should be able to pick it up and then you'd have to pick it up on your end.

jeejee if you are interested
I can find out if there is space in the container in which the Junior Dragster is coming next month.
All you need is having it shipped to that state side address, a friend is packing the container.
or how about this one, already around the corner
350 zz4 gn performance motor,
forged pistons, alu edelbrock heads, edelbrock airgap intake,
roller rockers, mini starter, edelbrock cam (5702).

You know...thinking about it...I'll also be shipping my motor to europe soon. If I can get away with shipping it directly to the Netherlands without incurring a huge tax penalty maybe it would be more economical to ship together.

Silke , well that might be something, i'll give it a good thought,
The 350zz engine is a 6 pot is it not ?
I got an opel with licenseplatepapers for it with 8 cylinders
(i was offered a lexus 4.7 v8 this week, but i plan on going for the big HP and not some whimpy "small" engine)
I had a look at a mercedes E55 AMG (493HP)engine but this was out of my price range unfortunately aprox 8000 euro minus the gearbox
@turboManiacal, unfortunately dutch customs want at least some 30% TAX on the total amount the stuff is worth including shippingcost
when looking at something like this : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-GTO-LS2-ENGINE-6-SPEED-TRANSMISSION-CONVERSION_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQitemZ8047526871QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
it would add about 2000$-2500$...
And for that kind of money you can build a nice engine yourself : these stroker kits aren't that expensive anymore and add some healthy AFR's and maybe a warmed over vortech with some mild 9:1 compression
That would only leave me to find a good gearbox
What do you think ?

thats cool,
I have given it some thought in the past because these engines are so very light, especially when installed in a very light car would give some nice performance
But i know absolutely nothing about these engines.
when looking at one, it looks the same as when i was 3 years old and looked at a normal car engine eg it didn't make much sense
But there is allready a german opel oldtimer fitted with a rotary, i have read a magazine feature about one some time ago.
James, i hope he doesn't participate in the autoX too much

hey, James , i don't have the link, i read it in a german magazine (= not online) i think, But it was an Opel GT or as it is called in the states opel 1900 (you kow the little brother of the corvette) from the early '70's
come to think of it, it wasn't that spectaculair as it only had +/- 200HP as far as my memory goes..
you have internet at work ?? man you MUST have a nice job
