Hey Guys,

Thanks for letting others in on the FBE fun!

I'm a Mopar guy (flames welcome) mostly into older A bodies (Darts, Dusters, Valiants, early Barracudas).

I finally tried out the FWD Turbo Dodges and have been pretty impressed. The SRT-4 suits my needs pretty well and keeps me in a Mopar.

I do own and love a '99 Suburban (had a '92 before that).

My closest encounter with possibly owning an F Body was taking a test drive in a '77 or '78 6.6 Liter Trans Am at a used car lot in Alomogordo, NM back in 1986. I broke it loose coming out of the lot and it spun around on me in a cloud of tire smoke. I realized that it was too much car for me to handle without getting into serious trouble or killing myself, so I gave him back the keys and said "No thanks!" After my little escapade he was sure I was sold, but I walked away with wobbly legs and stained underwear. I definitely gained some respect for those cars that day!

Looking forward to hangin' out here. Thanks!

Rob

*lol* Heck, how could you walk away from a 6.6L T/A? ;) Nice choice of Mopar favorites, though!

Welcome Rob. I can't believe you let that scare you off. Just have to get used to the throttle on those cars. I test drove a 96 Camaro SS convertible 6-speed in Denver a few years ago. Well, 8 years ago. The salesman made me come to a complete stop on a back road and then told me to dump the clutch and get on it. I looked at him like he was crazy. So I reved it to 5K and dumped the clutch. I think I killed the tires on the car. He then told me to stop and asked me what I was doing. I explained to him that I dumped the clutch like he asked. He actually wanted me to just take off really fast. Long story short, he upped the price on me and I left without the car.

I've regretted it since then, but I was barely 18 at the time and that thing scared the heck out of me! It was also a little bit of a stretch for an 18 year old E-2 in the Army to pay for insurance on a car like that. Not to mention the gas (and tires  ). I think the asking price was around $4-5K. That seemed like a huge car payment at the time!

One of those "Ones that got away" stories...

I think you flamed yourself enough. Couldn't handle the power of a chevy, so you stuck with Mopar :D

Welcome

Welcome.
Things do not have to have a lot of ponies to scare you. You have to get used to the power. I can still remember when my dad had his C1500 ext cab V6 4,3 chevy with only 190HP and once it scared the sh.. out of me. We were on a Bundesstraße (not very wide) heading towards Schweinfurt and a dog jumped infront of us my dad set the 5,70 meter long truck completely sideways going about 65mph having the back tires sliding and pulled it back over we had a lot of luck. The dog must have been in the middle under the truck he survived and didn`t get hurt. Good thing the truck stayed on the road.(man I miss that truck even if it was a v6 it was something special for me)

That'll work. I wouldn't have felt complete here until I got one of those.

Thank you. Thank you very much! :D
