It's almost like parting with a member of the family :(

On the positive side, I'd be buying a T-1 C5. I had this grand plan to do all kinds of work on the car, but I've realized that it'd be much cheaper & easier to buy a car that's already built and sorted out. Plus if I ever get to a point that I'm ready to go wheel to wheel racing I'll have a car that's legal for NASA, SCCA, & NCCC.

For those of you that don't know T-1 vettes are basically stock Z06s with safety and reliability mods for racing plus a few performance parts to equalize cars within the class (vettes get a better suspension)

T-1 is an SCCA club racing class that includes Vettes, Vipers, Ferrari 360s, 911s and a few other. Phoenix Performance makes most of the vettes including the national champion car for 5 of the last 6 years.

They've got 4 for sale now and 1 T-2 Firebird.

I'm looking at the 99 on the bottom, It's been updated to 04 Z06 specs and has a new transmission, but has 8 races on the engine.

I wonder why they left the rear seats in the Firebird ... it's not like anybody would still actually be able to climb in and sit there!?

Man that sounds cool. How is Hampton Va? I miss that place but not the cost of living.

Langley is a lot like Ramstein (HQ base) assume what you want about that statment, I'm not saying anything good or bad. From what I've seen so far cost of living is better than Germany, or at least by my way of doing the budget (more money left over at the end of the month). Va beach is about 30 min away, I went there for New Years, it's pretty dead this time of year, but looks like it'll be cool in the summer. There's a 1/4mile oval less than 1 mile from my apartment so there should be some good Saturday night redneck entertainment there as soon as the season, but more importantly, NASA held autoX events there last year, so that'll be nice and close. Overall, I'd give it a 7 out of 10 with the potential to move up to an 8 after winter is over.

Keith I saw a site that actually had you Vette you wanted for sale. The C6 race car. $90,000 I think it was the yellow one. Sorry I forgot the series. GT I think it was.

If it was Blue/Yellow that was David Farmer's Speed World Challange car. The Banner Racing WC car is for sale to, not sure how much they are wanting. Would be nice, but a whole lot more money to run/maintain it.

True, but I'm thinking of playing more in the 35K range. 40 tops if the car is in perfect condition. If you really want to have some fun GLPK is selling C6.R chassis #001 for 575K

I found this little jewel last week. It's up in Michigan with Lady Luck Motorsports. The guy that owns it is some CEO type with about a dozen race cars (mostly Porsche and Ferrari) spread out all over the country. It's an 01 Z06 with a fresh 04 LS6 engine in it and he only want's 37K with spares.

Looks nice, but how badly has it been abused?

it's been in a sandtrap once, but no wrecks of any kind and it's been maintained by Lance Knupp, so I'm not to worried about the condition. From watching the runoffs (the one race on the engine), Mike seems to be pretty easy on the car, just a rich guy out there having fun. He finished 11th in a 24 car field.

the best part of being in the military is how fast your life can change. I found out this afternoon that I might be going to afghanistan for 6 months and leaving for 2 months of training in a few weeks meaning that the rest of this year is shot. I'll find out for sure tomorrow, but if I am going, I'll wait until I get back next winter to do anything.
---------------------------------------------------------------
...and were back in business. No deployments for me :(
