Hey guys...long time, no post.
Just wanted to drop in and leave some news about a former employee from the old Kapaun Auto Hobby Shop. Many of the old heads here that used to go there a lot will know him.
Anyways, Joel (the guy with the tats and goatee) was in a pretty serious accident with his Harley. A lady pulled right out in front of him and he ran into the left rear quarter of her car at speed (how fast I don't know). The bike spun around to the left and slammed into the car.
He was brought to Wilford Hall Medical Center here in San Antonio from Abilene (about 3-4 hours north). His knee was busted and he had numerous other broken bones and a lot of lacerations. Unfortunately, his left foot and ankle were crushed and the docs ended up amputating his leg just below the knee. Joel is out of the hospital now and is recovering pretty good and is in pretty good spirts considering.

Thanks all...You all take care...

Used to trade messages with him about how to get his GTO over here that he ended up selling later on down the road. Met him only once though...

I think he got rid of the GTO because he had too many toys as it was... plus he had a kid on the way. In talking to him, I think he wished he still had it. He has a Hemi Dodge 1500 now...

Oh "He said POOP"! I can't imagine what he's going through. Barry, you have a phone number or a place to send a card or anything.

Thanks

Yeah I've tracked that car over the course of it's time here in Germany. He sold it to an MI puke that worked out of the embassy in Bonn. He got hassled too much by the Polezei so I traded him my stock exhaust for his borla exhaust free of charge...then his wife made him sell it to an E-7 out of Wurzburg...so that's where it's at now.

Jason,

I'll PM you his cell number. He was up at Dyess in Abilene, but since the accident he's since PCSd to Randolph to be closer to Wilford Hall and Brooks Army Med Ctr where he's being treated.
He and the wife are staying with her parents until they close on the house they bought here in SA...so I don't have a current address now.

BTW, I may be passing through south-southeast LR on the way to Memphis in a few weeks...you in that area?

I'm going to have to look his number up...the one I have on my cell is the one he had when he was stationed at Pope...and I know it's no good.

15 miles off I-40...east or south of LR? North or west...won't be able to make the detour...

Forced at gunpoint to leave in Jan 05...

I hated leaving becuase I had to sell everything I had (except the 78 and the 86 T/A I bought off that chick with the big hooters)...both 92 RS cars, the 83 GTI, the 850 and the 760GLE Volvo, and the 735i...junked the Astro van.
