what are the 4th's like there? the wife and I went home for the last 3yrs here so this was our first 4th on Yokota and well.................

IT SUCKED....rain, and a TOTAL lack of patriotism and no excitment whatso ever. To the JN's it was just another way to get on base and make money. I know it wasn't there holiday but it was a drag when all they cared about was getting on base and using our facilities. No fire-works because of the lite rain all day. Services just reschedualed for a month later at another money making event. they didn't decorate the main street at all just a few flags.... the base has a Friendship Festival in late Aug. were all the locals come on base and the base puts out every flag that week but not the 4th... :x :x ...

Don't get me wrong I'm all for public relations cause I like learning other cultures but it seems the base here is all about money and not the exchange of ideas/culture... all my squadron can do is promote the " money we bank" at this event and you get voluntold to work that weekend to pull max profits.....

I loved the 4ths in Mildenhall and can't wait to see what kind of events Ramstein puts on...

sorry if this was a bitch session its just I'm done with this palce and ready to get back to a place I once loved.

Ouch, I was at Yokota several years back for the 4th and from the few details I can remember, it was a pretty good time.
