I have a F-Body shootout at Reynolds, Georgia this weekend. I have a huge shot of nitrous to put to the ole NX. I am going for the 9s and this will probably be my last race for almost 2 years. So, I am going to lean on this little 346 until it gives up or runs a 9 second pass. My best 1/8th mile this year is 6.64 on a 200 shot. I am putting a 275hp shot on it for this weekend and of course, it is all coming on right out of the hole. Wish me luck. BTW, I miss Germany so bad I could cry :(

Good luck man. Is that silver doller receway? I am about to leave germany myself. I have about 2 months left. My only regret is not going to the nurburg ring more I have only been once.

Good luck ... hope you don't spray the LS1 to pieces ...

It is Silver Dollar Raceway. The last time I was there in March, I couldn't hook up at all. I plan on building a new motor when I get back anyway. LSX, turbo, motor plates and all.

I found out about it from this website eastcoastfbody.com and another one that is dead now. I will be in southern Georgia soon so I might see you after your deployment and mine. I will be down range for a year as a civilian so I might even see you there. Keep your head covered

Well, it was pretty disappointing this weekend. I found a few issues with my car when I run 1/4 mile. The first is that 4.10 gears even with 28" M/T slicks is not enough gear for the car. I was on the limiter before the 1000' mark. Second, the tranny is done. It will not shift to third gear unless I let off of it two or three times. Last thing, the nitrous is still causing the motor to hesitate when it activates. I did run a 10.66, 10.75, 10.77, and 10.94. Oh well, time for a new tranny and some more gear.

I added one of my runs. It was my first and best nitrous pass. I could not help being on the limiter since the tranny is going south. I added the video to my original post.

You miss Germany and I miss Silver Dollar Raceway. :D

Did you get some of their awesome Fried Green Tomatoes, Boiled Peanuts and "Freedom" Fries? The folks running that track are really nice. It's too bad the new NHRA track near Valdosta (SGMP) took a lot of their big business.

Nice run on the juice. Sorry your tranny wouldn't let you get into the 9's like you wanted. Something to shoot for when you get back.

Rob

I just noticed after I added the video that it was on motor only. Michelle from MS performance recorded that video and posted it. When I ran the 10.66 it was against a red corvette. That run was a 11.74. Michelle is looking for one of my nitrous vids.

My tranny's did the same thing right before they went out. Hit the rev limiter with nitrous I would have to let off and then it would shift and then about 100 miles later first and third was all I had. Hey would you let me know if you find someone in Georgia that would do a performance rebuild and give a warranty. I would rather do that that buy one off the internet so I can just take it to them and have it fixed. How is silver doller? Have you been to cecil yet? ( valdosta motor park )

Dang man is that you camm'n that hard on the line? Sounds wicked! I heard you bouncing off the limiter too. :D Sorry to hear about the tranny. Your next combo is gonna be wicked but that little 346 is stout as it is.

@ 98 t/a. I have not been to Valadosta yet. I am almost done for the year. I think Bruce is coming to see me next week so I may take him racing at Jackson, S.C. It is a 1/4 mile and it is called "The House of Hook." My 250hp jets also came in on Monday. There is no way I am going to get a 9 second time with my tranny this bad. But it is still fun to feel the punch in the back when it launches. I am not sure about tranny builders around here. I am going with a TH400 with a brake when I get back. Even built 4L60s will only handle my power level for a short time. I also want the trans brake since I have to run a pro tree and leaving off the foot brake gives me a crappy R/T. I left right when the lights flashed and I still only cut a .140 R/T.

@SRZ. The little ole 346 doesn't do too bad. The stock heads really hold up its trap speed on motor. There was twin turbo LS1 Camaro there that ran a 10.73@144 on Nitto drag radials. It is a 6-speed car too. He was doing that on a stock 10 bolt.

Yeah, you hit that limiter hard and bounced it for a good few seconds, motor is pretty sick to take that and keep ticking.

The motor has taken everything I can throw at it. I hit with a 250 shot last night with no problems. Now the Moser 12 bolt didn't like it. I broke the ring gear on the first pass.

Man see all this will make me think twice about getting more power out of my 98 before I get some stronger parts to handle the power.

Here are some pics of the Toasted 12-bolt. I can't figure out how to attach pics anymore.
