I just took the top speed limiter out of my car and thought I would try it out. I hit 175, still pulling, but I had one of those idiots that likes to pull out infront of people. :-pat:
What's the fasts everyone else has gotten their cars to?

that is pretty bad ass, only two mph slower than a c5, and aerodynamics like a brick to boot!!!

however, there is no mph limiter in a V8 Fbody unless yours came without zrated tires, then you would be limited to 115mph (I believe)

just curious, how did you measure your speed? Did you place a 200mph gauge cluster in?

Actually there is a limiter with the Z rated tires also. It's set at 165. And that's pretty much where my engine cut out. Felt kind of like the rev limiter. Engine stuttered, not a good feeling at that speed.
Yep, I have the Granatelli 200MPH guages with the recalibration for them.
Hopefully when I get everything sorted out, I will try again and see where the engine runs out of power.

I have also burried my speedo many times (mostly on the A-60 twords Belgium) I have no clue where it stops though all I know is that my speedo stops at 158 and I was still going pretty good!

You guys in the sad position of not knowing how fast you're going ... just calculate it from the rpms ... !? Should be easy ... according to that, I think my car should be able to do 155 or a bit more, even though the governor stops me at around 125 or so ...

When I used to drive it to work on sundays coming from saarbruken towards ramstein I used to burry the hell out of the spedo. I never gave it all it had because my drive shaft was out of balance. Once I get new tires I'll let you know. My guess is around a 160 or a little more.

I have made it to 184 you have to go to 6th? Not because of RPM's but you swear the tranny gets crazy loud in 5th @6300 at 180 like its gonna blow very scary. I set it at 184 with the HPP3 took about 3 miles to get it there after it was buried. A31 is a clear flat bahn where I can climax!!!

I need to remove my limiter.. I hit mine at 160 something in 5th... I will probably not do it as I am leaving in February, so I will not be doing it there...... If someone has a 99 Hypertech they want to lend me for a top speed run I would do it......

Try this this spreadsheet here . All you have to do is fill in the proper ratios for tranny and rear end andvoila you have all the answers. Also you can chart your upshifts and downshifts . Plus if you have the unfortunate chance of mis shifting ie the infamous 3 to 2 or 4 to 3 at WOT .Well you can chart that ttoo.
BTW this is more accurate than the internet one which shows some inconsitencies.

Call me ignorant (go ahead, it won't hurt my feelings), but I can't figure out that thing. I will be getting those 200 mph guages before I leave here.

Having a km gauge in mine, i hit 265 km/h, being roughly 165 miles. With an A4 i don´t quite believe that. but then the engine wen´t rather stil, actually it put me to 3.500 revs and some 220 in a few seconds. The car pulled again, but I choose to call it quits.

Still scary enough. I tok the middle lane, was all alone and still felt crowded.

I think your speedo is off a little if you were going 265KPH it would feel like it!!! everything comes at you like they were in reverse. But then again I am only going by the where I set mine because it was not registering on the speedo.

I didn't have that great set of tires on my car. There are a few of you out there who may have heard of them there called MAPOPS (they may pop now they may pop later) I need to get a new set that havn't been burned out so much. They were new until I went to a few fbodyeurope meets..POLZIE ATTACK ON FBODYS and THE RAMSTEIN COMMUNITY PARKING LOT I left a lot of rubber during those events. George knows his car thought it was a gopher digging up pavement. Sometimes you just can't quit.

Well, I got back out on A60. I hit a little over 180. Then for sime stupid reason, the oil dipstick poped up and managed to spray oil over the passenger side of the engine. Some pretty good smoke appeared pretty quickly. Now I have to sort this out.
