Well, I made a big step today for the heart transplant of SSickneSS.

Tony Mamo has the go ahead to begin hogging out my AFR 225's. He will be doing a full port/polish, chamber enlargement, spring upgrade, CC, mill and flow test.

I am currently working with HKE for a slightly larger N/A motor. Once I have finalized on the motor size I will be selecting a custom cam.

Hopefully, I can figure out how to tune this dude before spring!

Brian I've heard about this selection of yours... . I've been thinking about the same one...just waiting for the funds to pile up, or someone to buy my complete setup off of me before I do so.

Apparently I've talked to the same people you have about an engine build and he mentioned to me that he was dealing with someone here in Germany that had some engine failure etc blah blah, and I guessed that it was you. His next post confirmed my thoughts. I won't reveal what I have been told. You're secret is safe with me...lol. Hopefully you aren't mad about it.

If you know of anyone that might be looking for a ls1 (intake to oil pan sale) let me know.

What's wrong with it? I may be interested while I am waiting!

Most decisions have been made, but I am fishing for some opinions from the peeps here.

My intentions are to have partial daily driver, autobahn runner and occassional nurburgring roadcourse car. It does have the potential to see the dragstrip. It will be much tougher to do after the last time though :dunno: I will need something that can withstand high revs w/ the 4.56 burnin up the rear and I MUST have something RELIABLE. I cannot afford this build...much less another

The internals are all forged/quality parts. The first decision I am contemplating is whether I should upgrade to a thickwall, 3/8 pushrod from a Comp Cam pushrod. There is less than $100 price difference so it is not a big deal considering the overall price. However, is it really necessary? I know they will transfer a little more power, but won't they be heavier at a vital point?

The second decision has a much heaftier price tag. Should I go with a Morel link bar lifter over some LS7's? The difference is almost $425! There have not been any problems that I can see from a search with the LS7's, but the link bar has got to be more supportive than a plastic retainer. Again, is weight a consideration also?

So:
-CompCam pushrods or 3/8 Manton custom thickwall(+$100)
-LS7 lifters or Morel linkbar(+$425)

I would keep the stock diameter pushrods unless you are going to have an over .650" lift solid roller cam.

How high are you planning on reving the motor? I have rev'd mine to 7200rpm on a regular basis with the stock lifters and plastic retainers. I would run the LS7 lifter and skip on the Morels unless you need the piece of mind.

Well, thanks for the input. I guess I am going for broke and went ahead and did everything. I need the piece of mind and am not cutting anything out.

We are all going to go broke in the Go Fast business. Good luck with the build. BTW, I just purchased a used LS2 Block for cheap. I am going to settle for a 402 for now.

Yeah, I wish I was back in the states. I would be doing things quite differently.
