Well if Ryan gets the cam he wants then we can just have an FBODY meeting organized around installing 3 cams!

;)

I have a shop in Bamberg that we can use. It has a lift in it also. Only catch is that we have to do the install on the weekend.

Best time to do it!

We will just have to sleep in the bay....

NXZ28, do you work at the auto craft in Bamberg?

I actually need my exhaust adjusted but the guy who installed it initially tac welded the clamps down so it needs to be cut off. Shouldn't be too much work, he just did little half inch welds.

Ah well, just let me know when you are back in town and I'll stop down your way.

I actually headed out to Schweinfurt today to check out my new stomping grounds.

WAAAAAAAAAAAY too many rustangs for my liking.

But I think my car scared most of them with its bark.

I am in the Army. I run a motorpool on Muna Kaserne. My Battalion Commander lets us work on our cars in the motorpool on days off. A few rules though. Safety, Non-Profit work, and no use of government materials like oil, grease, filters, or parts. It works out pretty well. My car did get stuck on the pit one Sunday and I barely got it out before work started the next day. As for the Mustangs in Schweinfurt, they all migrated from Bamberg. Sorry about that. :D

This is unconfirmed reporting....

If things go as planned on my move to Schweinfurt I will be pocketing the rent deposit I have already paid on my current place.

That is 3K EURO!!!!!!

Stage III Heads and a Cam will then be purchased....400 RWHP LOOK OUT!

BTW, this is only assuming that I don't have to give it back to finance, and I don't think I wil since I think they have been taking it out of my check every month so far.

Okay the custom cam is a go.

8)

In two weeks I will know if the Stage III heads are a go as well.

The heads will come pre-assembled with all the necessary valvetrain upgrades so all I will have to do is swap my rockers on to them.

Sounds good. Your going to need some rear end upgrades after this. You should be in the mid 12s easy.

GTO Rearend is good to the low 12's.

BMR tested it out substantially via their 9 second GTO.

Weakest link is the two piece driveshaft.

I appreciate the enthusiasm on wanting to help me with this. The cam is a definant go, the heads will be decided in about two weeks (my better half says that the extra money is better spent invested or paid towards something).

Well heads really do seem to be that aspect that opens up the cams potential.

Most GTO's with just a cam and my mods are between 360-385 depending on how aggressive (mine is going to be mild). The addition of heads pushes them to the 400-425 region.

Either way the cam is a go so I'll be happy with that if I don't end up with the heads.

Don't go too small on the cam. You should go for something like I have. 224 / 228 duration .581/ .588 lift and 114 LSA. Very streetable and alot of power on stock heads. Lopes some too. Put down 393 rwhp on the dyno. I am glad now that I did not get the .561 lift cam. Way too small for an LS1 that likes to rev. Just my opinion though.

Before you start, I recommend the following:
1. Get the longer crank pulley bolt listed on ls1howto.com do it!
2. Make sure you have several different pulley pullers or one that is proven to work on ls1's
3. PLAN ON A TUNE, whether u have an M6 or auto, you'll want it tuned.
4. Since you're a self proclaimed noob, do some searches and reading on ls1tech.com.
5. LS6 springs are only good for wimpy cams; like my hotcam or an ls6
6. print, read, and re-read the ls1howto article 10 times
7. get a new oil pump pickup o-ring!!!! http://www.shinken.us/tickingLS1.html
So many people, including myself, have done a cam swap and sh*t themselves after, thinking theyscrewed up because of a bad o-ring.
8. The lifter holding tools work awesome, I was glad I got them.
9. USE A TORQUE WRENCH ON ALL BOLTS THAT GO INTO ALUMINUM OR YOU WILL STRIP THEM! ie oil pump bolts, oil pan bolts and pretty much all others since we have an aluminum block.
10. Read about valve spring compressor tools. Almost none of them work under our cowl. I have a picture or how to make one somewhere, I'll look for it.
11. Give yourself more than one day. I started on a friday night and finished on sunday morning at the craft shop.

I've got everything that is needed to do a cam install in the car to include a valve spring compressor that works GREAT under the F-body cowl. I know of 3 other people on the board that if gotten together can knock it out in a day.....

Good.

Priorities change and reason has kicked in.

I'll be getting the LPE GT2-3.
