I think I am going to need a new clutch soon. I was trying to do a second gear burnout. Get the RPM up, dump the clutch and floor it. All I get is smoke from the clutch and go no where. It will hold doing it in first, but not second. Also I noticed if I get on it hard, at high RPM, I hear a whining noise that rises and falls with the sound of the RPM. So I think if I plan on doing much with it, I should replace the clutch sometime. Suggestions on a good clutch setup and price?

There are only 2 good clutch setups for the LS1s. One is made by Ram. Probably will run aroud $300.

The other is made by Cartek. Will run around $500-600ish.

The Cartek is by far the best clutch for our cars. If you can afford it I highly recommend it. Talk to Jack about his.

It's awesome Jesse. I also bought the billet steel flywheel from SLP, 'cause Cartek doesn't sell one with their setup. You will either have to buy a new one, or have yours resurfaced.. I highly recommend it. It's not cheap, but neither is going fast!! ;)

Is a new flywheel necessary? Especially I only really have 7500 miles on mine right now. I was also thinging about the aluminum flywheel. I probably won't do this for a couple months. Did you get the adjustable Master cylinder?

Yes, I got the complete set. It is like 860 bucks, but I got in on a GP, and paid 760!! As long as your flywheel is usable, it will work, but it is recommended to have it resurfaced..

You don't need a new flywheel. You can resurface the factory one twice and still be ok. whether its needed or not, I'm not convinced. Mine looked fine so we didn't resurface it. Haven't had a single problem and it gripps like a mofo. If you do get a new flywheel, don't go aluminum. I've heard it more than once, it is for racing.

Well since you have a LS1, blame it on the power. If you had an LT1 you could have blamed it on the shifting..:)

Me too. I will probably wait till I get back to the states and then do the clutch. It should hold out a couple months. It's not fried YET. If it does go, I will take it in for warranty and have it done and then redo it in the states anyway. I will go with the same setup as you Jack. Keep me informed on how it does. Do you get the adjustable master with it?

Is that with the flywheel? Cartech is advertising $630 for the clutch, pressurer plate, master and hydraulics with the master core.

Stop doing 2nd gear high reving burnouts but it is prolly too late to save the clutch 2-3 clutch smokies and it will be glazed. You might get it replaced under warranty?

Silly question , but what possess you to dothat in second gear instead of first? if the clutch did'nt slip you would of more than likely got nothing more than a chirp un less ythe back wheels were standing in water.

I was told that's what you do. Rev it, dump in second. First is no problem.

I think you could grenade the POSI. So when you get a new high speed clutch remember it prolly will not slip and you will break the weakest link.
