If you do that though, you will, and I repeat WILL need a new rearend. Hell- if you do heads you'll need a new rear. If you have the money, buy it all at once, but if not, build up the drivetrain first, to save yourself some headaches and money! ;)

I was gonna say that, but I thought if you have the money, you should go all out.

For 10 large, you can buy a new Ford 9" rearend ($3000), a heads/cam setup ($2000), a set of forged pistons ($600), a set of billet connecting rods ($1200), a new driveshaft ($350), and whatever else you might need- with money left over! ;) You have so many options Hoch, so check LS1Tech, visit some of the vendors, and find out what you think you'd want. You should have no doubt by the time you are done with your research. For that much money, you can be in the 10s for sure! ;) You also might want to look at a serious brake upgrade too, while you're at it.

since you don't work on your car yourself, take one third ($3333) to put in the upgrades, another third ($3333) for the mechanics to do the job.
the third part? $3333 you need for the fixes of the upgrade later on.

sorry for my sarcasm. just some realistic numbers here, guys.

I was not going to upgrade my engine until the warranty expires. Then I started thinking. If I am going to upgrade, and I have not started yet, why not get an LS6, and upgrade that instead of upgrading the LS1? Or even a better motor than the LS6.

Whatever I do, my end state is to have about 600 HP and run in high 10s to low 11s (without NOS). I would never do NOS. I would spend the money on TT or Supercharger before NOS.

Hope you got a 2nd car. You are going to be breaking things left and right if you don't do it right. Beef up the tranny w/ Viper internals because if you don't you'll munch that thing in the 1st yr if not a little later. 600Hp isn't as easy as some make it out to be. You could have a 600HP head cam package but if there is no dyno tuning you out a 40-60hp easy.

Good luck in your quest.

600 hapees without a power adder will be QUITE a feat. I think it might take a little more than 10 large. :)
