As my GSC's assume a mirror-like smoothness on the front edges, it comes to that time of year when the mind turns to rubber, quite literally sometimes, and the rip-off prices in the UK become painfully apparent. Looking around, the question is whether it is worth paying the extra for one of the makes. I note that Avon have released the ZZ1 and it's on special offer at £116 a corner. I've had Avons in the past on my Vette and found them to be OK. Does anyone have experience of these ZZ1's? Not that keen on the tread design. Reviews from owners seem mixed. An MX5 driver said they were great but a t*rd with a Rover 220 Turbo didn't like them but there seemed to be a FWD/RWD division of opinion. Does anyone out there buy tyres for what they look like rather than their relative ability? LOL.
Perhaps I should click the button that says "Submit New Tread". Hehe.

I read the GSC's became better as the outside inch of the tyre wears off.
Tyres are a huge topic, I am interested in what others think too.

I saw your other thread. I was looking for a supplier for the Nittos but can't find any in the UK. I'm not planning on paying the transit costs and they look like they won't last very long and look appalling for the wet. I really like the Goodyear Eagle F1's but can't find them in a 50 profile, only 45 and I fear that tyre/arch gap will look bad. I did run 245/45's on my Vette instead of 255/50's and that lowered it but left an arch gap. Just tried to goad a Porsche Carrera Convertible into a race but he wouldn't bite. What is it with these pussies?

just thought I would add, that as one of Firestones biggest promoters of they're SZ50ep's, now that I have the Nitto TR555's I'll never go back.

Wet, dry, whatever they are bottom line the best tires I have had on the car. The wear and tractions ratings are identical to the SZ50eps also.
