The dude in the black 2000 SS asked if I could install one of those little doofloppys that eliminates the 1-4 shift that GM puts on the automatics. Skip shift?? something like that. I remember reading about it long ago but memory retention is difficult with GM stuff... I got a block or somethin' :-dunno:

Anyway, is it an easy hook up ? I don't have to drop the valvebody or somethin' stoopid like that do I ? Couple of wires right?

I need to get it right folks!! I don't wanna have to hear any smack about "Oh, a damn Ford guy tried to install it and dinked it up"!! or some Sh** ...:-nono:

(yeah...dude's got an slusher in his SS):-wtf:

Skip shift is on M6 cars not autos so you best find out what he means.

Transgo shift kits and a hypertech w/torque converter will turn that slushbox into M6 stomping consistant runner that would run mid 12's all day.

Check it out on LS1.com. I understand you don't even need to buy a skip-shift, you can just cut a wire and put in a 10 cent resistor. But, like Ian says, it's to stop the M6 jumping from 1st to 4th and nothing at all to do with an auto.

serveral routes to go, but if you havethe thing made to bypass the cags, it will take about 1min to install, if you use the resistor maybe alittle longer.

If you just unplug it, (not the best) 30secs.

...now if it is a A4 then it will take a long time, (joining the choir here) because it aint gonna work :)

LOL ok I'm a little lost on some terminology here. I'm gonna go ahead and ask what will seem to you guys as stoopid questions.
What's M6? and what do you mean by A4?

The guy want's his transmission to NOT skip from 1st to 4th when he drives it. He owns a 2000 Crumaro SS. I am Assuming he's driving an automatic. I can't picture the T-56 skipping from 1st to 4th on its own.:)
Ya'll please splain it to me like I was a 2 year old???

It does it is called skip shift. Tell him to romp it it disengages above 2500 or under WOT. I have no problem with mine. M6 is the six speed and the A4 is a automatic.

GM did it to pass the gas mpg barriers emplaced by the gov. Basically under light throttle the tranny will lock out 2 and 3 and the the shifter will go from 1st to 4th.

The first thing you need to advise this guy (after you counsel him for wanting a mech to install a cags- computer automatic gear select- bypass) is that it takes the ability to unplug a wire and put terminators on each end.

Takes all of 1min to do it.

So "skip shift" is on the T-56 manual transmission?? How does this work??? I didn't know the T56 had any features like that. Same in the Viper?
So you go to slam it into 2nd and you actually end up in 4th??

If the computer can see that you're trying to drive conservatively(under ~2500 rpm), it will automatically guide you into 4th gear, instead of 2nd, for better fuel economy.. :)

on the M6 a manual transmission? strange sh** man. Must be some solenoids doing some crazy stuff in the shifter gates huh?
I always thought they were referring to the automatics shift points and the transgo kit.

Learned some sh** thanks !
