 Post subject: Okay, now that I figured it out

When you guys resize your pictures, what are the values.....ie height/width, and what can I do so that the quality doesnt go to crap,

Rob, I think it depends mostly on the quality of the picture. Second, is the editing software you are using. You should be able to just change the size, and retain the same quality, but if not, I don't know what you would need to do!!

The destination size should always be smaller, or at most only slightly bigger (up to 10% or so), unless you know what you are doing ... :)
If you are using any decent paint program, it should scale down a picture without getting too much of noticable artefacts in it. When saving, if you don't have much experience yet and use jpg or png, do a couple of test runs with different quality settings (i.e., save and then load the resulting picture). Both jpg and png use lossy compression, which - depending on the grade of compression - will result in different quality pictures ... but the quality also depends on the kind of picture, so when in doubt, experiment ... :)
And, for the web: try to keep pictures at or below 100k, unless high quality or resolution is necessary ... think about people without cable or dsl ... ;)
