Does any one know where or if I can pick up a decent to good torque convertor for not alot of cash. I looked intop the Vigilantes and I can't afford $700!! I am looking into changing out my stock one since I have to rip the trans out anyways. Thanks!

You can pick up a used stock s-10 convertor for cheap and they are supposed to be the bomb. I am sure you can get one for about $50.

You have to remember that a lock up torque converter is used in the 4L60E. The OD solenoid sends fluid through the input shaft to lock up the converter. Not just any torque converter will work.

I hear you. I was not trying to be rude. All that I know is how to trouble shoot, repair and rebuild the darn things.

Obviously everyone has a budget, but sometimes there comes a point when you need to whip out a credit card and take it in the keester! You've spent a million dollars making your car powerful, but now you're going to skimp out on the single most important thing that gets the power to the wheels? That makes absolutely no sense! Get the right torque converter for your application regardless of the price and you will be happy with it. If you get something that fits and is cheap then you will probably have to replace it in 4 months anyway.

Just a little update.... it took alot longer than expected to get my tranny parts in... and since she was due to ship out 2 days after she got fixed.. the good ol' stock convertor went back in for now and I have decided to just save the cash for either a vigilantie or a yank...... thanks for all of the help!
