I went to Santa Pod on July 14th in the belief I'd be able to knock my times down but notwithstanding the FIPK addition, the weather was boiling hot and I just ran slower than I ever did! Damn! 14.09 was the best run although I was whupped good by two Capris (edit: one with a built Chevy 350 V8 and the other with a 330hp Cosworth engine)and a Skyline GTR R-34, all of whom were running mid-12's. I did beat a modified LT1 TA so that was some consolation. I guess that pulling the fast cars added to the insult so I sat and watched a while before realising that everyone's cars were running slow. M3's were running mid 14's, as was a Honda NSX. There were way too many hot hatches taking up track space although there were some who were running well like an R5 GT Turbo who was clocking mid 13's...although at what cost. There were a lot of expensively modded RX7's running in the 13's too and a 750bhp Supra (reputedly) which could still only run mid 12's. One thing I haven't factored in is whether the quarter is on a gradient or not - it looked like it ran slightly uphill. There wasn't a single LS1 there to gauge my times by either although I beat the TA by 0.3.
So here's the question at the end of that. Will a torque convertor wake this thing up? I don't want to do the back axle due to the ABS thing.

I was waiting for that one, every car I,ve had has allways run a 10th or 2 slower at the pod don,t know why.It does make me think I should take my 68 back to the park soon as it,s run a best of 11.97 at the pod but in 2000 I only did the pod championship and have not raced since.Any how you will have my LS1 to race at the mopars and there will be no ricers or hot hatches can,t wait to get there.
See ya soon Ian.

Ian, I think the Mopars are gonna be a miss for me now as I've been booked for looking after my 2 year old daughter and it's too far to take her (no, I wasn't going to treat her to a quarter mile run)so it will have to be another time. Actually, if what you say is correct, I don't feel quite so bad.
As for the nitrous kit, you know, it's so damned tempting but I can't get it out of my mind that it's just cheating because it's a limited use option. I also don't trust myself with fuel lines. I get the idea from a lot of forums that the auto gearbox is an item waiting to fail.

YES! I especially hate it when you turn in your car for warranty work, and after working on it for 3 months, the mechanics can't figure out what's wrong, so they just order a new engine.. I really think I might sell that car when, or if I ever get it back..

I really wanted to get it back for this event.. This would be so much fun.. The car sounded so good with the new cam.....
