I was reading a thread on LS1.com and there was some debate about whether you should descreen and port your MAF ends as it screwed some cars up. Naturally, what better way to find out on a remote UK land mass than to strip it off and try and break it. I flipped the screen out and it snapped so there was no going back (scrunching it up beats bubble wrap though). I hacksawed out the airfoils and ground the stumps flat and polished up the whole thing. I stuck it back on and hell, why isn't this standard? The FIPK had been a little underwhelming but this mod provided electric throttle response and it leaps foward so much more enthusiastically. What a terrific free mod. I love my car again. Anyone who hasn't done it to their LS1, do it.

Done it. I did this when I first got the car. Never had a problem, even spraying in the Texas heat.

Have a descreened SLP inside. Works fine. Kinda love that "turbo" boost feeling when revving over 4000

My engine liked it, only thing im afraid is something crashing through the resistors, as the K&N filter is not known for being all bug-proof
