How to dissamble the mirror glass without braking?
It is a 1999 Camaro Z28, Euro spec.
I have dissambled the right hand side mirror, I want to
keep the glass. Only the plastic housing is broken.
Is it just pry out of the ball joint?
Do the adjustment motors need to be detached?

Cheers!
Gunnar

Just take a flat tip screw driver , tape the shankof it first. Then insert and pry the mirror from the screw jack(Balljoint). It will make a whole lot of stripping sounds but it won't hurt any thing.

Hi Roy,
I applied almost brutal force, but the glass did not come out.
The centre ball joint seems to be pressed in very hard.
The joints to the adjuster motors however look very weak and I am
afraid to damage them.
Have you changed a mirror glass yourself (the way you described)?
From which side did you apply the screwdriver?
Did you support the opposite side?
The adjuster motors are situated above and on the outer side of the
centre ball joint. Maybe its a good idea to apply the screw driver from
the bottom side or inner side??

Yes Idid replace my right side
I remember bringing the mirror inallthe way and down. That way it was easier to popthe mirror off the screwjacks. It will make some stripping noise but it is designed to slip inoreder to sve the gears.
