This is funny: two days after engine oil change the message "Oil change" appears on the dash board. Is there a calendar counting the days?
The last oil change was on Apr 8th 2002.
Somewhere I had read how to reset the message, but cannot find it now.
The Opel garage has forgotten to do this.
Please help me out! How to reset this message?
Thanx!
Gunnar

To reset the message:
Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine turned off.
Press the TRIP/OIL RESET button, located on the instrument panel for 12 Seconds
The OIL CHANGE light will start to flash to confirm that the system is reset. The reset is complete when the OIL CHANGE light goes out.
Info was extracted from page 6-17 from the Owners Manual...

Thanks Larry and sorry!
I will not bother you with such trivia again and read the owners manual first next time. I just had a look in Haynes.

The PCM keeps track of the oil wear... it simply bases the oil life on the number of RPMs your motor spins. The more you drive at higher RPMs, the sooner the PCM will tell you to change the oil due to wear. It has no knowledge of the oil actually being changed... like I said, it just counts RPMs.
