Yesterday I put on my G2 Heavy Duty Torque Arm, SLP Skip Shift Eliminator, SLP 160 Thermostadt, Granatelli High-Flow Mass Air Meter and Lou's Short Stick Stick Shift. Today my 'Service Engine Soon' Light came on. Could any of those parts cause that? What do I do now? Hochee.

I don't know about the skip-shift. You didn't gas up at AAFES recently, did you? That watered down crap always sets off my light. Is the gas cap on tight? Sounds stupid but a loose cap can set off the light. (Common on Fords)
Try disconnecting your negative battery cable for several minutes then reattach. If the light stays off, don't worry about it. If it comes back on, then some investigating is in order. Good luck.

just look for anything that could affect the air/fuel ratio that your rear O2's are seeing. (I know thats alot).

You just did long tubes, so maybe its as simple as an exhaust leak. When you did the torque arm, maybe you accidently snagged one of the O2's, and unhooked it, or maybe they are buring on the y pipe?

Its an emissions problem, so thats what you need to look for.

If unhooking the negative battery cable or pulling the PCM fuse doesnt erase the problem, ie it comes back on, swap your stock MAF back in. Im down on the GMS MAF, so I always cast a evil eye on them.

How about a burnt wire? Is the car running ok? There is so much that can cause the light to go off... Dealers know this and charge up to $100 just to plug it to a computer to pull up the codes. Hope that you don't have to go this route...

I'll put money on why your SES light is coming on! Your having the same problem I did. IT's a combination ot 2 things.
1) The 85mm MAF you put on is making it run lean
2) The FLP headers will also make it run leaner too

Take it to the craft shop and have them put it on the computer and I bet money it gives the codes "PO171" & "PO 174" . PO171 means it's running lean on bank #1 and PO174 means it's running lean on bank #2. The deal is that the 85mm MAF you bought makes it run leaner, the cure is to either have it recalibrated or put the stock one back on. The cure for the headers is to have the computer tuned or put the stock exhaust back on. Contact LG Motorsports and talk to Louis about computer tuning or Thunder Racing. The only hitch with this is that they need your ECM to do it which means you'll be without the car for about 2-3 weeks. I'm having the same problem but I have a scanning tool so I can read the codes when ever the SES light comes on, I then turn off the SES light. The other contruibuting factor to this is the gas your putting in it, AAFES isn't the best, ESSO is better but use the 93 octane only!! Like I said I'm having the same problem and have done alot of research on it.

Sounds like the cause has been found! As far as computer tuning goes, check out http://www.madz28.com/ He might have a spare computer that he can tune and send to you so you don't have any "down" time. Worth a shot.

The car runs fine right now. Sounds like the gears are grinding a little when in nuetral... if I put the clutch in it goes away, other than that it runs great. What are the ill effects of leaving the light on? Will it harm the engine or is it just an anoying thing to look at?

Guess the problem with having the SES light on constantly is that you're not warned of anything serious going wrong ...

A couple of weeks ago I had it come on 4 times in one day(each time I erased the codes shutting off the light). The light stayed off until a week ago, I shut it off again and it has not come back on. I plan on getting the computer custom tuned and the whole mess should be finished. The only problem with leaving it on is you wonb't know if it happens again. I noticed with mine that it comes on when I'm moving really slow in first gear(almost at an idle). If it continues to run really lean all the time you might run the risk of burning a piston.

Sounds like a throw-out bearing. :(

Dont sweat that noise. People have been going round and round with GM since 93. The tranny is just plain noisy. Now I'm not saying you cant get some free parts out of the deal by complaining, but it isnt going to go away. It is only gonna get more noticeable with aftermarket shifter and tranny mount.

Best advice is to turn up the radio, or open up the cut out.

Well that damn light came on again today so I decided to take the MAF off. Sure enough the light went off. Lets see if it stays off this time. Sheesh. These cars sure are touchy.

the GMS MAF sensor itself was sandblasted (or media blasted) the results arent all that contolled. Alot of tuners wont tune a car with a GMS MAF (Ed Wright for example) mail order, because the GMS MAF varies so much from one to another.

Some people it works as advertised, some not. I myself fell in the not column.

Isn't the stock MAF good for up to 600hp anyway? I was always of the view that you only need a new MAF when you do serious mods. Why not just port your stock MAF. It's pretty easy to do.
