**********WILL BE USED FOR OPEN TRACK RACING ONLY***********

Looking for opinions on the best brake set up for track only. I've already got the C5 rotors up front with brake ducts. Not really worried about the auto-x as the hawk HPS pads work great. What I'm talking about is running at the Rings. A rotor and pad combo that I don't have to worry about going to S...T after the first 1-2 laps. I brake late and extremly HARD........What do you all think would be best. It would be put on at the track and taken off before going home. I've got to stick with the C5 SIZE rotors and pads.

Thanks for your help
Val

If you're just talking pads/rotors, I'd recommend the Brembo blanks. They are excellent rotors for the money, and the Hawk HPS pads are good pads.

Jack,
your right about the Brembo Blanks. I've got the Hawk HPS pads right now but I have read a few articles that say not to use the HPS for open track sessions. They have worked GREAT for the Auto-X events, street, and Autobahn driving. I have had zero problems so far, just haven't had them on an open track yet.

I was looking at SBC rotors($242) & red pads($139). The red pads will take 1395 degree heat, not sure if I should go that route.....haven't heard too much about them. I can get the Brembo C5 rotors for $240 and have heard GOOD stuff about them.

Val

The HT10 pad from Hawk should nicely for what you want and still dirive home or to the track if you so like. Though they are noisey when cold and dusty . its the price we pay for eye vessel popping stopping power. But donot go with the EBC Green. You will definitely wear that stuff to the metal or this R4s compound from Porterfield.

Roy is definately right! EBC Greens are not made for auto-x, but the Reds are. I have greens now and for day to day they are great but I would not dare try them on the track. Here is a little more info on the Reds: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brakes.jsp?make=EBC&model=Redstuff+brake+pads

Also, the Hawk blues are for track use.

Jack those pads there will kill a set of rotors at the NUrburgring. Can't keep enough heat in them there for what the pad is designed for. bit it will work

Probably work well at the hockenheim ring but they will still eat rotors pretty well. this is a heavy braking track here.

Roy,
Sounds like the HT10 Hawk pad will work. I could put those on with the rotors before going to the track and channge them out when I get home. I'll have to look around to see who sells them. I've been impressed with the Hawk HPS I have but I know that they would not stand up to my driving style at hockenheim, don't want to repeat the brake problems that I had at Nurburging Ring.

RTZ, Thanks for the input, I had looked at the reds but really didn't know or hear to much about them.

Jack,
Was looking at Hawk blues too but they eat rotors like candy. That's what I wanted to stay away from is eating up rotors & pads like crazy. LGM sells the blues and that what had been recommended to me by Lou, but I knew that there had to be something better out there.

Val EBC makes excellent pads for motorbikes and gokarts. But I have heard nothing but trouble from Hard core drivers that decide to try their colored compounds in their Fbodies.
Sounds like a good pad for a mustang though.

Well the Firechicken is a little bigger than a go kart, little bit heavier than a motorcycle, and alot faster than a Mustang  so I guess the EBCs are out. Looks more like the Brembo rotors and Hawk HT10 pads are the ticket :D

Hawk HT10s from "raceshoppers" are $198 a set......alittle steep  but for a track pad I guess you get what you pay for
