Hi folks,
About 1 month until my return from China to Germany and I thought its time to get in touch with some suppliers for shipping parts to Germany.
About three weeks back I contacted LM Performance ( http://www.lmperformance.com) asking for shipping timing and cost. The order would be worth 3000USD.
After another reminder I got this answer:
HI
Its going to be a lot because we have to ship UPS second day air.
Thanks again!
Leon

Another request to specify how much is A LOT and why it needs to be sent second day air was not answered. I checked on UPS website for a package of approx 50kg: shipping second day air would cost about 1000USD!!!
So I contacted Thunder Racing. Even after the second email within two weeks they refuse to take notice!
I did never imagine how hard it will be to spend my money on Fbody performance parts!
Problem is that I like to order from one supplier only and these two are the only ones who got the stuff I like. What to do?
Anybody got a friend working there?
Any help appreciated!
Gunnar

Gunnar are you a US service member w/ a PO address? IF so just to tell them you are stationed overseas and are using a APO address. Won't cost you as much. BUT if you are not then you are screwed. Let me know 1st what you find out.

What type of mailing address do you have though? IS it through the military? If not maybe I can help you out possibly.

I got the same responses from lmperformance and thunder racing. I used t.byrne motorsports and I think Strano Motorsports supply too.
What parts are you after?

Hi Gunnar,
what parts are you ordering? 3000$ is quite a lot of money...? (I'm just curious)

I checked Tbyrne: they do not have half the stuff I like.
3000USD sounds a lot but is only some pipes and bushes
i have a problem with my shift key in this chinese internet cafe here, so no capital letters for the moment
i want to order
bmr sway bars,
global west front upper a-arms with delalum bushings
pa racing lower a arms with rod ends
global west lca with urethan bushes on one side and spherical rod ends on the other,
bmr relocation brackets,
slp tuned bilstein shocks
slp sfcs welded,
bmr strut tower brace
random technology torque arm
and for induction slp flow pac
if one of the us forces guys could help me order those parts, please send a message.
gunnar

I have not yet surrendered to the ignorance and arrogance of those part suppliers.
Its too early to think about second hand parts.
Buying second hand parts now sounds to me as if somebody suggests to buy a Opel Astra instead of Fbody: It does the same job; bringing you from A to B.
Actually I do not have the time to collect all parts, because I spend too much time abroad.
All should be installed at once to really feel the difference.

Hi folks,
I have sent a fax to Thunderracing:
1st page: WHY
2nd page: DON'T YOU SELL
3rd page: TO GERMAN CITIZENS???
4th page: Gunnar
Now they woke up and eventually send me a quote!

Well, I cheered too early: Thunderracing are a bunch of ignorant nerds.
They never sent a shipping quote, even after three reminders.
Did somebody say: In US the customer is king?
I do not think so. These suppliers are just arrogant.
You can be glad, swearing is not allowed here

Gunnar, try http://www.stranoparts.com -- they're very friendly and helpful! If you need parts you don't find on the page just mail them.

You should really try calling them. It works much better. They literally get 100s of emails every day, and it is hard to respond to them all very fast.

Didn't we have a guy on here some time ago who offered to ship parts as part of his business?

Wasn't it Tbyrd, or something? Also, Strano said that they had no problem shipping over here
