Hey guys,
I just bought a Hypertech and thinking bout buying a Thermostat. I thought the 180° one would be better, coz it's kinda cold here in Germany. I drive the car from April till November. Or should I better take 160°? I've heard there are some 170°, but I couldn't find one.

thanks Jack. And what would be the optimum? I mean this Thermostat is a very very minor performance gain, so I would take the one which gives me 1ps more. Which one of the two is that?

Well, the cooler the engine the better, so I'd say the 160. I've been known to have been wrong before though, so don't quote me on that.

I recon our local tech wiz Roy will probably have a good answer Or Bruce?

Go with the 160. Every performance parts supplier I spoke to recommended the 160. I have one in my car. The engine will still get up to around 205 during normal driving conditions. LS1's just run hot. Where the 160 comes into play is when you use a remote fan switch. You can cool the engine down to around 170 at the track before a run.

Thanks@all. Bruce also messaged me with the 160°, so I guess I'll go for the 160° one. I hope I don't have any errors changing it from 195 to 160 ...

You won't get any codes. You won't even know the difference until you get the remote fan switch.

Candy man , i wouldn't even mess with it , the gains from it are debatable, If you are a 1/4 mile guy you might get a performance gain if you do some critical things first .
The most critical would be tighter engine clearances because you are running a a cooler temperature. If your a hard charger ,autobahn driver, occasional hotlapper , then there is no gain from it .
But be fore warned when winter time comes your car will run extremely cool , to the point of very little heat coming out of the heater.
Myself , I would drill several holes in the thermostat , this not only will keep you from overheating in case of a thermostat failure , but you will have a constant restricted flow through the thermsotat until it opens.

Hey Roy,
thanks for your advice. I will wait a bit with the Thermostat, but I will buy one later coz I still plan on modifying my engine tho. I'm not a 1/4 mile guy, but a high/top speed one...
